Check the paddle 3.5mm socket, solder bridges or something like that ? The 4-pin header for GPS is in parallell with the socket as well. If it measures low resistance to ground while powered off there's probably something wrong with the board. Measures ~5V on the GPS RX/PPS when the unit is turned on. |
What if you put the rig into practice mode?? It almost sounds like the key connector shorted somehow. W2MW - Kurt

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI found that pin 19 on the controller is shorted to ground but it is internal to the chip. I must have slipped and smoked it. If chip is out there is no short to ground. It does OK in practice mode in that it stops TX and it works OK in wspr mode.
Hans, if you read this, how would I get a new Atmel chip? could it be shipped with the GPS that I just ordered? Thanks and 73 Barry NF1O |

I have been chasing a transmit issue. Make sure that the micro switch key is not shorted closed, the key ja k not shorted closed. Look at the tx and sig gen lines feeding the pa to make sure that either is not turned on all the time. It takes one high enable signal and the clock signal to turn them on. Look at Q6 to make sure it is turned off when in receive. My Q6 was shorted and the pa was turned on even when tx was off. My place to start would be the key lines and make sure they are not shorted to ground, turning the pa on even out of transmit.
