Dreaded dead transmit from SSB Calibration routine

Thank you, Stan.? I thought this might be the case.? ?Thankfully nothing seemed to have gone wrong from the calibration of my knock-around QMX.? Already had replaced the BS170s on that one last year after some tinkering went wrong.??
?
What is lost in performance by not running the calibration routine, but still enabling CESSB, compression, and adjusting mic equalization???
?
I am mainly a CW operator, but was curious about the CESSB mode, which has worked surprisingly well for me.? But just don't want to risk damaging my daily-driver QMX for something that I will rarely use.
?

The only things lost by not doing calibration are:
1) the phase pre-distortion compensation doesn't do anything (as if you had turned it off)
2) the sideband phase/amplitude synchronization is set to mid-level (50) for all bands, which on average is a reasonably good setting, vs. getting a custom value for each band.
Both of these are intended to decrease the IMD3 distortion products below its already reasonably good performance.
?
All other SSB functionality is completely functional without calibration, including CESSB, compression, mic equalization, mic agc, mic noise gating, and amplitude pre-distortion compensation.
