GPS for QDX and Mac?
The clock on my iMac isn't accurate enough to reliably decode FT8, etc. Can my qgl2 solve this? Can it control the time on the iMac or should I connected it to the QDX? So far, I haven't been able to communicate with it on the iMac via a terminal emulator since I haven't been able to identify the serial port in /dev.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDoug,Are you sure that clock is your problem? I've tested MacBook Pro many times and it's very accurate. Has never affected decoding. I don't have an iMac so maybe it's different, but I would doubt it. 73,

Hi, Cliff. Since my QDX isn't working yet, I've been using WSJT-X to receive FT8 from online SDRs. Looking at the waterfall display, I can see that the time window is often off by 4-6 seconds. But perhaps that's just due to delays along the way from the SDR websites. I guess I'll just wait until I get the new EEPROM for the QDX and see if I don't need the external clock after all. BTW, I did find the tty port for the GPS and it's working well. Thanks once again!

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFB, I suspect you're correct about the delay.Glad things are working for the GPS and that the new EEPROM is on the way. Hans takes good care of his customers! 73,

As you note, this could be SDR/internet latency. Check your time with and if you are within a second of realtime, then it's not you.

You could _try_ setting your system time off by a few seconds to match the SDR and see what you get... 73, Willie N1JBJ On Nov 17, 2022, at 1:40 PM, Doug Kaye <doug@...> wrote: |
