QCX Keyer problem
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI completed my 20M QCX and measured about 3.1 watts with 14 volts input using the onboard wattmeter, so I was ready to put it on the air. Assume that this is a satisfactory output. (Should I do something to get more?) ? On the air, I wasn¡¯t getting any response to my calls, and I could not pick up signal on a nearby receiver, ?so decided to check the RF output again with a probe from the center of the three pin header to the end of L1. When I hooked it up (stupidly with the power on), instead of getting a power reading, I got a continuous sidetone series of dits. Unrelenting dits heard on both VFO A and B. I was able to change the keyer setting from Iambic to Straight key and instead got a steady tone. The only way I can get tine or dits to stop is to press the left button and get the Key Speed value, I can change that number, but when I right button out of it, I get the dits again, faster or slower, depending on what change I made to speed.? ? I did a factory reset. Same issue. An inspection for shorts, removal of paddles in the keyer jack makes no difference. ? I fear I may have unintentionally shorted something, perhaps when I hooked up the probe on a live OCX. ? Advice? ? Phil, W3HZZ ? St Simons & Atlanta ? |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýbeen there, done that. I blew out pin 19 on controller and got the exact same results. You need to order a replacement controller chip. I got mine and all is well now. My curiosity with the built in test equip is all set now. 73 Barry NF1O
