UB4 WSPR decoding #u4b

I have seen a little about the telemetry provided by the TELE command but I am a little confused as to the entire protocol. Right now I want to see if I have a GPS lock on a remote UB4. I am finding the first transmission but not the second. Does the call sign change for the second transmission? How can I look through the wspr database and find the second transmission from the tracker and decode it by hand?

Thank you,
Colin - K6JTH

Colin,

I use WSPRWATCH for iPhone by Peter Marks, a free app. I brought up your Call and there are many spots, see the attached map.

Looks like it¡¯s working good. ?I can send you a station listing if you need it.

I¡¯ll be up for another hour or so.

Here¡¯s the WSPR website page for the map:?

Set your parameters and press the UPDATE button at the top of the options.

Thank you John,

I can find all the spots at :02 but there is a second transmission at :04. It should contain the 6 digit maidens-head locator, the altitude and the GPS status. I am not sure how to search the Wspr database for that part.?

Hello Colin

The protocol is described here - there were a few minor changes but the bulk of it is the same and the information here would allow you to decode manually.?

However it would be easiest to use the QRP Labs tracking ??

Thank you Hans,?

That is helpful. The tracking site does not show any of my spots from yesterday. (Dave mentioned that I would have to wait till I moved a square before it would update or I could change my call sign.) wspr shows 32 with my call sign from yesterday (I have other devices off for this testing period so they are all from the tracker.) Here is an example:

?2022-06-13 22:12 K6JTH 14.097178 -29 0 CM88uh 0.01 WD0E DM79qm 1532 79 2?
?2022-06-13 22:12 K6JTH 14.097148 -28 0 CM88uh 0.01 K7GRJ CN87wl ? ? ? ? ?1019 1 2?
?2022-06-13 22:12 K6JTH 14.097198 -13 0 CM88uh 0.01 WF7W CN88hb ? ? ? ? ?1088 356? 2?

I assume there is a matching call at 22:14 with a call sign that starts with an 0.

at 22:14 I find these calls:

?2022-06-13 22:14 0B3DDH 14.097143 -23 0 QN07 2 KI5HBO ? ? ? ? ?EM00 9481 48 ? ? ? ? ?2?
?2022-06-13 22:14 0B3DDH 14.097168 -20 0 QN07 2 KA7OEI-1 DN31uo 7772 50 ? ? ? ? ?2?
?2022-06-13 22:14 0T9PKM 14.097198 -18 0 CM98 20 WF7W ? ? ? ? ?CN88hb 1082 351 2?
?2022-06-13 22:14 0T9PKM 14.097148 -26 0 CM98 20 K7GRJ ? ? ? ? ?CN87wl 1005 355 2?

Looking at the receiving stations I think the 0T9PKM call is mine.? Do I have to convert the power reading with ?
If I plug all of this into the spreadsheet () I get this:

Input:
Call Locator Power
K6JTH CM88 0.01
0T9PKM CM98 20

Output:
Callsign K6JTH ?
Channel 9 ?
Locator CM88UH ?
Altitude 0 m
Temp -37.16 C
Bat 4.61 V
Speed 82 m/s
GPS 0 ?
Sats 0 ?

The data seems to have errors so I must have made a mistake. The temp was about 30C and the batt is unlikely to be over 3.5V. The speed of my roof is usually 0. ;)

Thank you,
Colin - K6JTH

Hello Colin

The entries into the decoding sheet need to be in dBm. So you should put in 43 (for 20W) not 20.?

Thank you Hans, Once I strip the spaces padded in the wspr database and convert the power it reads perfectly.
