Hi all
I have managed to obtain sufficient parts to manufacture 375 more QDX kits which is less than I would like, but it is something to quench?the thirst of the masses... at least for a little while to let me search for more components.?
It might take about 5-6 weeks to prepare these kits. I will update you when I have more news about the estimated availability?date.?
I am not going to take pre-orders except for a few special cases and requests related to the first batch, who I will communicate directly with.?

Cool! Are you modifying the caps in band pass filter as noted in a previous thread?

Hans, I¡¯m at work now and can¡¯t access my email program at home. The thread was from earlier this am (about 5a CST)?and pertained to several caps which need to be replaced in order to get appropriate output. You did reply to the thread?as well. Forgive me if I misread the thread title but I think it was something like ¡°Low output¡± or something to that effect. I can check later when I get home but it will not be till ?much?later.

Hi Rich
I believe you are referring to a thread which mentioned occasional problems with 20m Low Pass Filter capacitors in early model QCX Classic kits.?
It does not apply to any later QCX-classic, or any model at all of QCX+, QCX-mini or QDX, all of which are already supplied with Vishay (occasionally TDK) NP0/C0G capacitors sourced from Digikey US and are always of known good quality.?

Hello Hans,
Glad you¡¯ve managed to source some more!
I never got round to asking on here but I was 30mins late for the first batch before it ran out (despite setting alarms ?) ?- if there are any left over after you have supplied others whom asked here, I would greatly appreciate it if you could keep one for me please :).

Hi Derek
That is not very likely I'm afraid... I'm worried there may not even be enough to fulfil the first batch of orders. I placed stock in the shop but the kit took 24 orders MORE than it should have done, because it was so overloaded that it let itself continue placing orders even when the stock had gone to zero. The shop was so busy basically, it took some time to realize that the stock had run out!
Anyway we shall see how it goes... and 375 more are in the factory.?
Though the first thing I saw this morning when I fell out of bed, was a WeChat message from the PCB factory complaining about the number of "holes" in the board and could I optimize it to have less holes! Holes. HOLES! Holes? Those are not just holes, they are VIAs, man, and they are crucial?to our groundplane stitching! I told them to stop whining and fire up their machines and let the drilling begin.?

I found the part where Eagle tells you how many drill holes there?are. The PCB is 85.55 / 59.50mm and there are 1108 vias, 2 holes, and 116 pads, a total of 1226 drill holes. So just over 24 holes per square centimeter on average :-D?

But can you imagine... even *I* was surprised. My mouse, not to mention my index finger... having lovingly placed 1,108 vias on the board and moved them into what I thought was an optimal location... unbelievable

In my PCB designer days, there was no such thing as too many Vias for ground plane stitching! On high layer count boards we did stitching using blind and buried Vias.
On surface mount human interface connectors, we would bolt the pads down with as many vias as we could and had them filled to increase the structural integrity of the pads that a gorilla could be yanking on.?
Back in my Package design days on PGA processor packages, 25K+ vias in the substrate design were common.

Sadly, with my experience of dealing with component and electronics manufacturers in China, a complaint of difficulty is normally associated with a claim for higher cost.
