ProgRock - Serial

I haven't been getting much sleep, ?Im going to hope that's why I can't seem to understand this but what's the best way to setup a permanent serial connection to allow programming of the ProgRock?

I would prefer for the project at hand to package this unit so that a DB9 serial connection could be used to console into it for config, ?or if I need to I could just dedicate a generic Arduino board for like $3 and have serial port access via USB but I am just trying to sort this all out in my head.?

If someone else has already done this, would you care to share? ?

Right now I am trying to correct my misunderstanding of the power setup on this project.? I installed the LM317 on the ProgRock board and it sounds like I should have left it out entirely.? As I expect system voltage to be +5V

Thanks,?

Seth,

what's the best way to setup a permanent serial connection to allow programming of the ProgRock?
"Best" is your decision.

My way would be like made permanent but perhaps that would not suit your purpose.

Yes, USB 5V could be used, the UART has a 5V pin. Then the LM317 would not be required.

Thank You Alan,

I have ordered 2 of these boards, if I¡¯m successful making it work I¡¯m going to stock up on these little boards. I plan to build up many prog rock kits.
