QCX R32 and R33 36 K ohm resistors ......

Greetings,

i know Hans is away from base so I thought to ask here.?

The 36k resistors are missing from my kit. I have plenty of 33k and 39k ones, are either suitable or shall I use a 33k + 3k3 in series??

Regards,

Steve G0XAR

Hi

R32 and R33 is part of the 200 Hz CW filter and will change the frequency of that stage, so the filter curve will not be as specified.
The 33k resistors would change that stage of the filter about 62 Hz up from the design frequency.
I would use the 33+3.3 combination if you can mount them in a decent way.

Oh for the days of carbon resistors, when we could just grind a small dent in one side and it moved the R up a bit. Ooops, there I go again, exposing my senior-ness.?
You might just check you supply of 33's and 39's to see if some are close to the 36 you need. After all, 62 hz is not a big disparity.

I faced a similar problem on my QCX kit , but it was only one 36k resistor. Being a LID as far CW is concerned I wanted to make use of the decoder, and hence wanted the filter to work as intended. If you arent interested in the decoder and can live with a slighltly imperfect filter, go for it!?

Folks on the forum suggested using 2 18K resistors in series, But luckily I found a smattering of old 36K 1% resistors in my junk box! Found 2 that sat exactly on 36K on my dmm and soldered them in place.

good luck with your build!?
