RD16HHF1 5Watt PA #chat

I'm using one and have been very happy with it. I sourced mine from ThePartsPlace from k5nwa; here's their page:??price/shipping is reasonable.?

I run it usually with 2W output and it seems to me in transmit the total draw in on the order of ~800-900mA. I biased it using the "zero bias" method, but I can't remember if there was any difference between it and the IRF510.?

Good luck!

Hi Andrew
Try the search function of the forum with RD16HHF1 (I think people are forgetting this).

Those parts are Prime parts from a US distributor not from eBay or China. I have never had one be bad out of the box, and I have sold 1000's.

Hi Jan, I have now tested all 5 I have and all of them draw 1.2Amps the moment they are in circuit with TX on, I seem to have bought a fake batch off e-Bay, I have no idea what they even are, I will put them on a transistor tester and see what it comes up with.

?

I have ordered from SDR Kits here I the UK.

?

?

Thanks for the fast response.

Thanks Buying low cost items from the USA costs me more in postage and VAT @ 20% and ?8 post office service charge to collect the VAT, so turns out not worth it in the long run.

As SDR-Kits we have supplied many genuine Mitsubishi transistors with zero complaints over the past 8 years.

Many people who initially buy on Ebay are disappointed with poor output and high current then buy the genuine article. They are then surprised how well the genuine Mitsubishi transistors works and annoyed how much time they have spent debugging their design or kit.
Shipping charges from the US are now very very high.? Our UK Airmail charges for a couple of transistors are? ?2.50 to European Customers and ?3.50 to outside Europe.? We even have a number of US Customers for that reason.

It's nice to see two of the major ham-oriented suppliers of these
parts, K5NWA and SDR-Kits, here in this thread. The Mitsubishi power
FETs are not available from hobbyist-friendly distributors like
Digi-Key or Mouser, so these companies are providing a valuable
service for those of us who just want a few parts. Unlike the parts
from eBay sellers, their transistors will always be the real deal.

Hi Jan,

?

I have just ordered some transistors from you.

?

I have no idea what transistors I got from E-bay, they area Mosfets with 3 legs, but there the similarity ends.

Got 6 off RD16HHF1 from mitsubishi europe in netherlands.? They are Genuine parts.? I also obtained some from:-

There is a lot of discussion, and photo's showing how to recognise fake parts(I have been bitten as well), on the mcHF blog:-

The genuine devices have 2 dimples, one each side of the mitsubishi logo, at the top of the black face.? Here is a picture :-
