QCX case ? (back to the topic :-) )

As you can see, the Qcx should fit into the 'standard' QRP Labs case with just minor surgery:
- Replace the potentiometer with a smaller one (preferrably having an on/off switch)- the normal one is generally available. The latter one, don't now, but isn't really a showstopper.
- widen the upper whole tp fit 2 switches
- drill additional holes to host the paddle & headset at the backplane. Or use a neutral one and drill the hole to your liking (for GPS only a normal Stereo plug is required :-)

My only concern is the connection of the display. You'd need a flat 16 (14) wire cable and route it UNDER the PCB to the display. Would try to get cable and connectors instead of soldering 16 wires. Under the display in order to have access to the maintenance and calibration points.
Will this cable cause unwanted noise being inserted into the RX ? Any advice from you old grizzled homebrew veterans?

Regarding placing the display on the front panel, I am also thinking of using a flat cable under the PCB board. I have found an old computer cable with two rows of 16-way connectors at each end, although only one row is needed. They fit the header pins. To help lower noise into the RX, the PCB will be mounted with the plastic spacers on a larger unetched Cu-board. The latter board will also be mounted on (metal) spacers on the bottom of a case?(a Hammond sheet metal Al-box). The flat cable will then be routed between the Cu-board and the bottom of the case to hopefully provide extra screening.?
