I am trying to set my qcx up for wspr beacon mode.
it has T1.00E chip, it was built a bit over a year ago and was working FB. I had used it for CW as well as WSPR.
I have the GPS for it to lock all.
Because of a move of homestead, it has been boxed up for > 6months.
I just set up an antenna for it to use as wspr beacon and find a problem.
when i turn it on, it comes up properly, then displays A14.0200,00 but starts TX immediately.
listening on another RX verifies that it is truly TXing.
double clicking left button adds the RIT displayand stops TX
single push left starts tx again
another single push stops tx and displays speed 17
pushing right button causes tx to send series of dahs.
again switches to b 14.019,90 still tx dahs
again displays a and b while tx dahs on b
again back to a still tx dahs.
any ideas on what may be amiss? what else i can try?

Probably just a case of not using it for a while.? Remember the GPS shares the input pins with the Key.? if you have the GPS connected before you put the QCX into Beacon mode, the GPS signal will continue to key the QCX. .
This can be especially bad if the ant is not connected.? My rule of thumb ant or dummy load is always first thing to connect. |
