All controls and hook-ups are on the PCB, except for the power jack and the two push buttons. Works very well, and has the old timey radio look I was looking for.
Naturally, it won't work if you are looking for a space-age high tech look. lol
Many thanks to Jim W7EED for his help in thinking through my volume control issue, rig works perfectly and have made some nice contacts.

Came out really nice.

Wood is good!
I have three radios and a laptop(Rpi) in wood cases.? Couple of things.? Michaels,?
AC Moore?and others sell wood boxes hinged lids, same for Amazon.? Some are
pretty neat and strong and?almost any finish from camo to steampunk is easily done.

Most of the same places sell "aircraft plywood" with thicknesses from 1/16 thick to a?
very solid 3/8ths inch.? With this material any sort of box or panel inside one can be?
easily fabricated.

It is a minor thing to line the inside with aluminum foil tape if shielding is desired.

So when is the ARRL or RSGB going to bring out "Practical Woodworking for Radio Amateurs" ? ;-)

I got hooked on radio about 63 years ago when i found a lovely crystal set that my father had built in a miniature cigar box. Wish i still had it, just perfect for a QCX.

One of the first construction projects from the ARRL Handbook was a 30ft tilt over mast made from 2 X 4s!

Virus-free.

Very nice indeed!

Maybe you should start an exclusive sub-group for owners of QCXs in home-made wooden cases. Call it a splinter group?

Good work Brady, I wish I had your skill.

Old Dog

I built one of those back around 2004 when we were establishing a wireless ISP in a small town.? You need three 16' 2x4s and a couple of bolts.? If you support next to a building rather than completely guyed you can even go with a tilt over but you loose a bit of height.

There was something similar in the RSGB Handbook second edition.

I guess that means you're not an Old Dog, but maybe a Mast-odon? :)
