开云体育Thread pitch is easy with metric because there is only one standard pitch for a given diameter, no SAE/UNC/UNF or (God forbid) Whitworth. And as far as I can tell, metric country pipe threads are in inches.Steve Fabricant

开云体育I seem to recall that 0BA (British Association size 0) has a thread pitch of 25.4 per inch or 1 mm. It also reminds me of British Standard Fine threads, and a newly-arrived colleague who marked all his toolkit with his initials - BSF. As we only used BA threads at that stage there was some confusion. To add to the fun, I was working on silicon rectifier stacks whose heatsinks were held together with 2BA threaded rods, the nuts for which had a 1BA head. Engage pedant mode. Well, there's ISO Coarse and ISO fine series metric thread pitches but I agree only one common pitch for each diameter. And what's wrong with Whitworth? It is nice and coarse and so ideal for cast iron :-) Oh, and also Aluminium... 73, Alan G3XAQ Thread pitch is easy with metric because there is only one standard pitch for |

开云体育John….I researched metric screws on Google and it started out fine but by the time I waded through the thread pitch part I had a migraine.? (Note:? I’m not noted for being the sharpest knife in the drawer!) ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of John Rabson

Alan
开云体育Steve is incorrect, there are coarse and fine metric standard threads in common use . a decent set of metric taps & dies will have both coarse and fine.? The thread count depends upon the intended application, there are extra fine threads in many standards ( such as used on BNC jacks for example) where thin nuts, thin panels or specialised use is concerned. ? 73, Alan G8LCO ? 开云体育I stand corrected. I'm just an average builder/fixer and never had a need for anything but the coarse threads. All my bnc jacks came with nuts!?Steve Fabricant
