USB audio level boost QMX+

I don¡¯t know if anyone else has experienced this, but I was checking out FT8 on 10M and the audio levels were in the red -too low, with no decodes, despite seeing faint signals on the waterfall. ?I¡¯m using a Surface Go tablet with Windows 11 Pro. ?I¡¯ve checked the recording control in Windows and it is maxed at 100%.
I¡¯m using digi mode and usb audio from the QMX+
plenty of level and good decodes on the lower bands

Nick-
I initially ran into the same problem.? Every volume control I could find in Windows was maxed out to 100%, but on most bands the WSJT "audio level bar" was barely moving.? I remember that 20 meters was the worst (no audio indication), but I forget if 10 meters was too low or not.
?
I fixed it by going into the terminal's "Band Configuration" screen and changing the "Audio Gain" on every band from the default 54dB to 75dB.? The WSJT audio bar is now green on every band and I'm decoding FT8 on every band.? The volume does change from band to band; it's on the low side on 20m, but too high (sometimes even in the red zone) on 40 meters.? Some day I'll go back into the "Band Configuration" and tweak some of the values to keep the level more even across each band.? ?But FT8 is working great now, and I'm making lots of contacts.

Thank you Larry, that sorted it, I increased the level from default to 75. ?I thought I had looked under all the menu settings, but I¡¯d skipped over band configuration thinking it was just for setting the bands of operation for different versions of the QMX. My few watts on 10M were being spotted in Brazil just now and just as importantly, I was receiving stations from South America as well.?

Cool- glad I could help.? Some of my band's volumes are still louder than others,? I still need to make adjustments.? But I'm glad you're hearing and being heard.
?
BTW- totally different topic- I just made my first QMX+ CW contact this afternoon!? Not exactly DX (NJ to Baltimore), but he gave me a 579 and had no problem copying.? We had a nice chat.? I've been so hooked on FT8 that I hadn't spun the vfo downwards and worked CW until today!? Enjoy.?

It¡¯s the opposite for me, I¡¯ve taken an interest in POTA and have been using it to improve my CW, which lapsed completely after taking my UK Morse test over 30 years ago, which was required for HF access. ?We had a two tier license system, one technical exam, which got you 144 MHz and up and 12WPM Morse for access to HF, in addition to passing the for mentioned exam.?
I was checking out FT8 to work some of the POTA stations which aren¡¯t active on CW. ?CW POTA is certainly more relaxed than the wall of strong FT8 signals on 20M, audible in Europe.?

Anyway thanks again, cheers Nick G0OQK
