SSB firmware and QRP Labs

 


Hi All,
?
At 63 my mind id blown at how fast and cooperative these projects are going.

I do not have the balls or knowledge to dare install a Beta firmwhere on my QRP QMX, but I am eagerly waiting for the official release.

At 83 next month, I¡¯m also blown away by the QMX plus; what a great radio at such a low price.

Mine was working great with 027 until
yesterday when I decided to do a Factory Reset before attempting to install full release. Everything went down hill. Could only work
on 80 and no transmit. Decided I¡¯d try to install the new firmware but no joy. Win 10
Desktop that works great would not recognize the radio as a USB device but thot it was an audio device. Tried 3 USB C cables with no help. So tried an HP Chromebook with same results. So did another Reset and radio now working again. But still thinks the radio is an audio device.

I¡¯ll try a Win 11 laptop next and then a Linux machine.

Have been able to get 027 to decode FT-8 but got the hamlib fault when I tried to transmit.

Have a 17 year old great grandson so
might just wait until June when he is available because he¡¯s a real whiz at this bit banger stuff. I¡¯m a retired comm systems engineer who always had talented software gurus available to solve my radio problems. D

If you set the QMX in Firmware upgrade mode Win sees an USB drive but no USB audio device and no COM port from the QMX

I have been getting USB device errors until this morning and fairly sure the QMX was not drawing any current. ? But this morning noticed it was using abt 50ma after firmware update shutoff the backlight and QMX showed up on the Win 10. ?Dropped 02 on the icon and I now how SSB. ?Now the menu fun begins!

Tnx to everyone who helped this old duffer. ?

Now to start on FT-8 DXCC!
