Onboard mic timeline?

Hey all!
?
I¡¯m not saying it would be an ideal situation or anything, but does anyone know if/when we will be able to use the onboard mic for ssb operations? I really love the portable nature of my kit and don¡¯t mind using the onboard mic.?

Thanks!

I'm not sure how soon this will be.? Hans used the A/D attached to that mic to do some necessary internal noise cancellation caused by the internal processor A/D circuits - so he would have to figure out a different way to do the necessary noise cancellation.? If you turn off the noise cancellation, you will hear the noise, which for most people would be at an objectionable level.
?
As an alternative, it is very easy to make a small mic that plugs in the mic connector at a right angle, making a very small mic attachment to the radio, then use vox to activate it.? Just attach a mic cartridge directly to a 3.5mm stereo plug, and seal it with some non-conductive epoxy.? Someone else on this list showed this approach a month or so ago.

And Yoon (as well as others) have proved that by speaking loudly, you can make the internal mic work as-is, albeit with lower audio fidelity.
