FT8 in USB mode - not working right?

开云体育

Anybody else able to run FT8 in USB mode? If I have USB mode selected, I can only do one CQ transmission. After the first one, subsequent ones do not produce RF. Restarting JTDX/WSJTX doesn't fix it. Only cycling power on QMX+ will fix it. Interestingly, I can do as many manual tune cycles as I want prior to my first CQ, but after that nothing will produce RF out.

If I put it in DIGI mode, everything works fine. Both WSJTX and JTDX behave this way. QMX+ responds to the power off button so it doesn't appear to be hung.

Yes I can duplicate this behavior in wsjtx. Digi mode works fine.? Switch to USB mode I get one good transmit then out just goes BLIP (keys up and unkeys for a microsecond) every time? after that.

Good to know, thank you. Hopefully Hans can reproduce it also.

BTW, In WSJTX, I can't select the QMX as a rig type without crashing WSJTX. I have to use QCX/QDX. In JTDX I can select QMX OK. Just found this out while trying to figure out the USB tx issue.

You need to update hamlib within wsjt-x to latest version,? then re-select qmx.

Thanks. I should have thought of that. In fact I just updated hamlib in Jtdx because it had no qmx selection. I just installed wsjtx so I didn't think to update it there. I will give it a go.

You can also fix it by going into the terminal program (PuTTY or whatever), and executing some commands, then exiting PuTTY and restarting WSJT-X.

I have also duplicated the problem in running FT8 in USB mode in WSJT-X.
After the first transmission of the automatic exchange, it won't transmit again.
?
My first note: FT8/FT4 will always work better in digi mode, so why are we trying this??
So a fix may be low priority, unless this also affects other WSJT-X modes that need SSB mode.
?
Anyway, I tried to diagnose it a bit, changing settings and VFOs used, etc.? I tried what I think is the least complicated settings, for radio control, i.e. setting both 'Mode' and 'Split Operation' to 'None', and setting mode manually and selecting VFO A.? But the problem persists.? I turned on the QMX CAT log, and observed the commands sent to QMX, and I see the correct commands being issued, but on the 2nd cycle when the TX command is sent, for some reason QMX immediately reverts to RX mode (per its log). This same action happens on successive cycles.? I have no idea why.

The advantage of USB mode over DIGI mode is the ability to control the power level. DIGI is my preferred mode but there are times when reduced power is useful.

Hamlib 4.6.2 or better if you want QMX support. Hamlib. 4.6.1 is BROKEN!?

At first I tried clicking the "Update hamlib" button in WSJTX. This did not fix the issue. So I copied over the latest manually. WSJTX will now allow me to select the QMX.?

Also duplicated this exact same issue. I spent time trouble shooting but found no solution and now just switch to Digi when needed.?
