Hi Jay.... when I was doing the very same thing with my CW filter settings, I found it was best to go to the W1AW Operating Schedule and pick a time that was good for you and this will give you about 1/2 hour or so of very good CW that you can go through all the filter settings and pick the value that suits you the best..
?
Good clean CW with very little fade sure makes your setting selections a little easier...
?
Just a thought...

?
CW filter bandwidth verses frequency tuning rate
?
Remember too that if CW bandwidth is more narrow than tuning rate you will jump over stations
?
for example...
CW BW = 100 Hz
and
Tuning = 14 ?04$ ?00x ?Hz
?
?"$" = one kHz QSY per click on Tune knob

?So you will not hear (jump over) several dx stations per click

?
p.s. ?
re... Not hearing some dx stations
?
This will become a moot point if you are the "activator" (calling CQ)
Now remember RIT is your friend?
?
BUT IF "tuning" while running "hunt es pounce" this is a BIG ISSUE... you will jump over (not hear) stations calling CQ
So CW BW must be wider than tuning rate

Hi Jay
?
Joe N2DI has a very informative video regarding this subject on YouTube.
?
?
Personally, I waiting for a filter bandwidth of around 1500Hz for tuning around, ~300Hz is far too narrow.
?
Also need to have a quicker way to select the filters... currently 8 button presses to change bandwidth and return to normal operation.
?
Hope this helps.

I've experimented with the filters a bit and I just leave it on 500Hz.? The filter control is not a QMX strength.? What would be wonderful is a cw mode that gave you top-level control of the filters so having tuning on the right knob (as now) and filter bandwidth on the left knob (as an option to AF gain) would be my ideal.? Or a cascade of filters on one of the buttons.? You really need to be able to adjust the tuning and the filter simultaneously which at the moment it doesn't do.? Just leaving it on 500Hz is a good everyday compromise.??
