QMX+ Audio not working on Linux

I just completed my QMX+ and made a simple 20m dipole that gets 1.6:1 swr. If I plug in earbuds to the unit and tune to FT8 I can hear the sounds, same for Morse code. But when I connect it to wsjt-x, CAT works and PTT works?fine but I am not receiving anything. If I look in the audio settings or pulseaudio I see the input and output but even when I am listening on the earbuds nothing shows on the PC input.

Try restarting your QMX+ (while the USB cable is attached) then go into the WSJT-x audio settings, choose a different input (maybe your pc mic), then switch back to the QMX audio in device.
Sometimes I have to do this to force WSJT-x to properly recognize the audio input or output device.
?
Also, windows tries to be helpful and sometimes causes problems with different audio devices.? Right-click on the speaker icon at the bottom right of your screen, and select 'open sound settings'.? Then scroll down on the settings window that appears, and select "Sound Control Panel" under "Related Settings".? That gives you the old windows sound device control panel - select the 'recording' tab (remember you are setting a recording input from the QMX+): you should see the QMX device there.? Select it and click on 'properties', where you will see a 'levels' tab: make sure it is not muted, and that the level is set high enough for WSJT-X to see it.? Usually you want the 'boost' turned off.??? You probably should also look at the properties of the QMX device in the 'playback' tab, for transmit data, make sure its volume is turned up (best at 100% for QMX).
?
I hope something here is helpful...

Oops, Sorry, I failed to note that you are using Linux.
Same issues apply, but it is the Linux control for input audio that you need to adjust.? This depends on your flavor of Linux.
Hopefully someone else can help with that...

Thanks for the reply but that did not help, I have everything turned up. It is weird because it shows up but no sound goes in but it does go out.

It's worth checking whether you saw this recent thread: /g/QRPLabs/message/135756

The thread pertained to somewhat similar symptoms experienced by a Windows user. The solution, suggested by Greg McCain, was "Use Putty/terminal program and bump up the value of the audio output in the band configuration screen."

On occasion, I've found that a new audio device's input/output levels are set to zero, regardless what an associated program may indicate. Try using alsamixer to set the levels.
