CESSB Microphone

Hi All,
Please post a CESSB microphone for QMX+ and QMX available on Amazon with a wiring diagram. I know this is posted somewhere, but it deserves it's own topic ? Thank you,
George?

Wiring diagram already in manual, has been for a while. It's the same as a tru-sdx mic, K6ark mic kits will work.

George, here's another kit microphone?that will work...

I wired up an adapter cable for an Icom HM-36 that came with one of my radios.
I had considered removing the mic plug and installing a 3.5mm TRS plug, but I had the components in stock and this preserves the original (new) mic function.
I might decide differently with a hamfest find or generic clone.

I just received two of these from Adafruit.? Nice small size, built in adjustable preamp. Takes 2.4 to 5vdc for power.

The QMX should not need an amplified mike, just a $0.5 electret mike.? Build your own case, cable and switch.
Electret mikes are amazingly good with a very flat response.? I don't know if Hans is planning on any equalization in firmware.?
I am old enough to remember telephones with carbon granule mikes that need the occasional wrap to loosen the grains.

No need to wait until Adam replenishes the stock on Amazon: You can build your own from scratch. All the information is here:

All you need is a way to print the 3D printed case. There is a good chance that somebody in your local club has a 3D printer and can do this for you. Other than that, it's just a few parts and a piece of wire. The links to the parts are in the description of the project at printable.com?

I'm going to rewire the inside of a Baofeng mic, cut off the two plug connector and add the proper one for the QMX.

I have a Cisco headset that is normally used for IP telephony (like in call centers). I really like the form factor and comfort and it has an electret mic element. I am going to gut the little box for a PTT switch, mic gain control and headset volume. Since the headset also has a battery I will try and adapt that for powering the electret element while leaving the charging circuitry in place.
It is Cisco CP-HS-W-522 USBC?

I'm always wondering why a ham radio can't utilize smartphone earbuds that have build-in mic and buttons, are there any technical reasons?

The IC-705 does very well with every bluetooth device I've used with it; Bose, AirPods, Shokz. Still need a PTT but if you're using the mic you can tell the radio to use the mic or headset for TX audio.

If Hans enables the CESSB software with the internal Mic
will that be practical? How does it work? I see the little hole.
I can get pretty close to it. For the amount of time I will be on SSB
it would be kind of neat to use like, "Hey, I can barely hear you, lets switch over to CW"?

That hole for the microphone is indeed small compared to the
one on the dial telephone we had 60 years ago.
But about the same size as the holes on billions of modern cell phones.
Should work fine.
?
CW goes back quite a bit further than dial telephones.
Still a good reliable backup.

If I remember correctly, using normal cell phone earbuds was a design goal of the QSX. I am surprised it did not make it into the QMX.

Does the QMX come with a microphone on Rev.4 or is that user supplied? I see the space on the board. My QMX+ has it supplied but I would like a QMX for a handheld on 10 and 15 . That would be really cool.
I love little gimmicks!?

Yes, the QMX kit has a microphone.?

Thanks Stan,
My fault! I just downloaded the assembly manual in preparation for building The high band
QMX and see it. I haven't built a QMX but the QMX+ was so good, I want to build a walkie-talkie
for 10 and 17 CESSB. This should be amazing at the beach with the upper bands so good.?

Some do use these. Not hard to find one that works.
