180pf (181) Capacitor Needed
Digikey or Mouser are good sources.

Shipping and handling will likely be more than the parts you buy, but stocking up on regular spares, general kit building supplies and such at the same time that can come in one package will ease that hit.? Potentially available from Amazon or eBay but provenance may be iffy.? Greg

Thanks, Greg.? I had already visited both sites and found their search systems designed for PhD EE types, not a hobbyist like me !??
?
If you or anyone reading this has a direct like to a supplier of the exact 180p 181 caps used in these kits, please reply.
?
Hans, if you see this, can you help ??

Bill, are you talking about a leaded 180pf capacitor, I assume??
If so, I ordered this part recently for a modified QDX build:
?
Hans talked about what he was using in 2018 here: /g/QRPLabs/message/22245
"All QRP Labs kits use low loss multi-layer ceramic NP0 capacitors for all capacitance values below 5nF. This includes all the LPF and BPF kit capacitors for HF bands. These capacitors are also sometimes known as C0G, CC4 or Class-I dielectric types. The voltage rating of these capacitors is adequate for up to 10W. "
?
So based on that, and what I've seen in the kits, a 50V, 2.5mm lead spacing C0G / NP0 Capacitor with a 5% tolerance is appropriate for replacement. Vishay is a good brand, in my opinion. You should see their strain gauge parts!

Use the search bar and type in the value of the capacitor. Then skinny down using the filters on the search results especially the form factor that Hans supplies in his detailed parts lists. For instance, 2.2u SMD 0603.?

For most ICs just type in the chip designator from Hans parts lists. Greg

Because of the shipping cost being way more than the component cost I have a business account with Mouser and create 'BOMs' using Mouser's web page and just drop a single order to get a few dozen spares in one fell swoop.?
?
(under [accounts and orders], [BOM's] )

They also do have some minimum purchase quantities on some components so you need to watch for that as well. They are not going to sell you (1) C0G capacitor at $0.19 each, that is not how their business model works. You may need to be prepared to buy quite a few things. They are not like the Radio Shack of components but are more inclined to businesses that spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a single Purchase Order.

I usually have a draft 'project' on file with Mouser so it's ready to go when I need parts...

I've not had any problem buying single quantity NP0/C0G caps from Mouser, but I usually put together a $100 CAD so I get the free shipping. 73 de va3rr On Sun, Sep 22, 2024 at 10:55 AM, Tisha Hayes, AA4HA wrote:

Hi all Note that Digikey will sell you an individual resistor or capacitor if you want it. The postage cost via USPS (3 days typical) is $4.99.? 73 Hans G0UPL On Sun, Sep 22, 2024 at 9:38?PM Bill Jobes via <jobes=[email protected]> wrote:

Dear Tisha AA4HA
There is a bubble wrapped envelope on the way to you first class mail with two 180 pf capacitors.?
I had two different styles so I sent you one of each.?? I think this will solve you capacitor problem. The envelope should be delivered by Friday 9/27/2024.??
?
Hope they will work for you.??
Take care and have fun, 73 Dave WA5DJJ
