Winding toroids with a chopstick?

I saw this method used on a Youtube video. ? It looks to me as though the builder has created the mythical “3rd arm growing out of the middle of my chest” with this lashup. ?A vice holds a sharpened chopstick vertically. ?The toroid is placed on the chopstick, and slides up and down as needed, leaving both hands free to wind the wire.
?
While this is new to me, perhaps some of you have experience with this method? ?

Chris,
Can you please post the site where you saw this video?

Myself I use very small crochet hooks preferably plastic ones
as it makes it easy to pull the wire though.
?
I also have a pinch tool for holding the toroids.??

Great idea! I used crochet hooks on the QMX+ toroids and they wound fast anf tight.

This subject seemed exhaustive.? After reading all the points made, I've almost decided on three best practices to use for winding a toroid:
  1. Wind a larger toroid with a small vise.
  2. Wind a small toroid on a chopstick held in a small vise.
  3. Wind with a small polished plastic crochet hook when it's decided to use a crochet hook.
  4. Follow directions about winding multi-filar coils, coils with taps or binocular forms.
  5. Always stop to consider which direction to wind onto the toroid so as to orient it onto a circuit board, match solder points and the planned vision.
  6. And, never underestimate other's imaginations!

I am impressed with your skills.
