QMX Power on/off loud pop

When powering on or off the QMX there is an annoying loud pop.?
Wondering if others hear this. Is it normal or do I have a problem
to look for.

Hi Dave

I think it's normal.?

It's on my list too: to make a soft switch on/off of the audio, at power up, power down and on band changes.?

Thanks Hanns,
?
You¡¯re amazing, the QMX is amazing. Amazing what can be done with firmware changes.
Did i say amazing enough!!

Mmmmm, think you can add a sensor that warns me when the wife is heading for the?
shack with her to do list?

Not currently, unfortunately. But I think the best way to do this would be wait for when the BASIC scripting language is implemented. Then install a hidden PIR sensor somewhere on the XYL's route to your shack, connected to one of the GPIO pins in the QMX/QMX+. On activation it should cause a short "XYL Warning" to be sent to your earphones in CW. If the PIR sensor is strategically placed at a sufficient distance from your shack, it should give you enough warning time to be able to hide before she reaches the shack.

Hans,?
Now thats what I¡¯m talking about! ?Love the way you think.
I¡¯m getting ready and calculating location of the PIR sensor.
Some days she can move faster than others! ?I have to factor
that in.
Dave, ve3zzy

Hi Dave

Ah yes you're right. I didn't think that far ahead. I only have one PIR sensor and planning a location for it. But as you said, we also need to know the incoming speed. So this would require two PIR sensors, strategically placed at a known separation distance. And a few lines of BASIC script to calculate the speed and provide an estimated time of arrival, sent to the earphones in CW. Then we'll know how much time we have, to hide. BASIC scripting will be a great facilitator, for many things.?

We're stronger together.?

PIR sensing won¡¯t work. ?¡°You should know¡ Don¡¯t wait for me to chase you down.¡±
?
Need ¡°spouse thoughts band¡± on next QMX version.

This is the innovation that I'm here for.? Hans, you are a treasure.

Like I have said before (when hearing about troubles with the QMX), when things don¡¯t work give the manual to your wife and let her read it out loud paragraph by paragraph¡¡.. even if she is not technically educated just her reading the ¡°fine¡± manual may wake up the male brain to an issue. ?We are attuned to the feminine voice whether we pay attention or not. ?That¡¯s why God put us together. ?Growing old alone is struggle enough. ?I am an old family doctor so married a younger nurse 51 1/2 years ago just for that reason¡..ha! ?On a weak moment years ago she even bought me a Vibroplex Bug and years later a KX3. ?What a woman! ?

Wow, ¡°spouse thoughts band,¡± sheesh how many petaflops must that be??

Samantha is right (of course!) we cannot hide. You must instead send a command to PC via usb to drop down a faux Financial Planner or Recipe Manager screen, and practice staring intently at these things. Feign interest. Be sympathetic. ¡°I¡¯m sorry honey, I am Really Busy Now.¡±

I made a 'boss detector' many years ago.? When the boss was coming, he would break the light path and my detector would put out a broadband hash noise? on the AM radio band for one second.? So as long as I had my AM radio on, I got the alerts.? It worked pretty good.
