QMX mid band 60m reassignment

Just ordered a mid band 60 - 15m?
As I'm just a lowly intermediate license holder and therefore not allowed on 60m it'll be an entirely wasted band.?
Can I resign that filter for anything else ???
Seems a shame wind the torroids and tune the band for a band I can't use...

Why not go for a license upgrade?

The 60m band is not available in VK so similar "waste" here.
Replacing it with 80m would work, receiver performance should be ok.
But you would need to check the LPF as it may not have enough harmonic attenuation.

60m IS available in the US, but the channels make it rather useless too. So I second the effort to reprogram that slot. On the other hand, upgrading your license sounds like a pretty good idea!

On the thoughts on upgrading my license,? I had a stroke and find talking very difficult. I taught myself cw so I can still get on the air without having to use ssb.? I find reading very difficult as well now, and really struggled with getting my head around the intermediate syllabus. I passed first time but I really don't think I could even think of approaching the full exam without things being made a whole lot simpler.?
As a 2E0 I have the privilege of 100w on all bands, save for 60m, but mainly sit at 20w at my qth on my Yeasu ft450d and an eflw through an mfj versatuner. And when out and about 5w qrp all the way.? My rig can't do any more than 100w and I can work the world already, I can't really see the benefit of upgrading further.? ?30yrs ago I may have been able to contemplate designing my own equipment but not now. Too old for that kind of thing,? and frankly if it wasn't for the long lead time Id have hans' team build my kits for me. That said I do get enjoyment out of the build process and have always had good success with the qrp-labs kits ( this will be my 7th)

Seems the only option for the 60M slot is 80M, and I would question what you could practically do on 80 with QRP.? No doubt someone has worked DXCC or some similar amazing feat on 80M QRP but in my decades of portable operating, 80M has never been a consideration nor an interest.? So much more low hanging fruit on 40 and up.? Probably the best of all worlds would be a 40 through 10M QMX, a mix of the mid and high band QMX's.? I haven't worked a lot on 10 either, even though we're coming up on the peak of the cycle.? So at least from my portable operating perspective (I don't use QRP much from the home station) the QMX mid band checks all the prime band boxes.? I've watched and waited until this specific QMX became available before jumping in, knowing this was the sweet spot.? Anything you would ever want to work, with antennas you can practically string up in the field, can be done 40-15M.??
