QMX Carry Case

G'Day All
I am looking for recommendations on a case to transport my QMX (or 2 of them).
I currently have this one.

But it would be nice to get something a little more snug fitting - less wasted space.
Cheers

Don't worry, the empty space will magically get filled with stuff soon enough!? Power/RF cables and adapters, earbuds, etc. tend to accumulate quickly.

I use this case.

I am able to squeeze everything I need into it for my (tr)usdx.? And by squeeze, I mean seriously cram.? I have a small battery, wire antenna, K6ARK antenna, K6ARK paddle, earbuds, K6ARK audio adapter, some cables and such.? Everything has to be placed in a very specific spot and I need to wrestle the zipper closed, which is then stretched quite taut.

The QMX is slightly smaller and needs some different bits, but it should fit just fine.

This is my go bag emergency radio, so I don't use it regularly.? But it's small, compact and holds everything I need (minus a mast of course).

Hope this helps.

But I agree with Don.? I'm actually going to order the case you have now to make for a little bit extra room so I don't HAVE to cram everything in.

Here is mine for QCX mini.

I have the same box for QMX, but contains EFHW antenna because QMX does not require external SWR/PWR meter and uses smaller battery.

Can you post a picture of the outside, and where did you get it?

G'Day Robb - I have both the Hi & Low Band QMX. So I have a larger case that holds the antenna, cables, battery, etc
I am after an "individual" case to protect the radios individually.

G'Day Robb (again)
I do like your case, there seems to be enough depth for the encoder knobs.
Unfortunately Amazon doesn't ship that case to VK - obviously it is a dangerous item...Hi Hi

I think that they make that determination on a (cough) case-to-case basis.??

I’m a big fan of those hard shell zipper cases. ?I’m practically addicted to them. ?I must have more than a dozen now, I put everything in them. ?I’ll keep these suggestions in mind when I order my QMX?

Hey Rob,

I like the Pelican 1050 cases like I have for my Tascam recorder (see attached) as they float (if you're a sailor!), are almost water tight ( to 3 meters +/-) and you can literally drive over them with your vehicle unless it's an F150 loaded with bricks, hehe. You can see what's in them and they come in multiple colors for - um - color coding things like frequencies and such. You know, Blue for 40M, Yellow for 20M, etc. They are a bit pricey but "lifetime Guarantee" makes it a worthwhile investment.

DIMENSIONS (LxWxD): INTERIOR - 6.31" x 3.68" x 2.75" ; EXTERIOR - 7.99" x 5.06" x 3.12" - the interior is somewhat cushioned resilient, i.e. squishy and you can buy pick-a-foam inserts for keeping everything in place but is not that necessary. They come with a cool Carabiner as well for hanging on things.

BTW - that's not a dead squirrel from my fly tying bench - it's the wind muff for the Tascam! :P

Cheers,

'Nudder Rob

Hello, I would advise you to visit local grocery story into food storage section to look for food containers. They are waterproof, good and solid plastic and the most important - you could get an idea and affordable experience on how big you actually need. I store a lot of "not only electronics" in them, as they being 'retired' from kitchen. Any brand is good, as far case has glued silicon strip in a cover and all-perimeter locks. 73 de OH2DZ

I am also a fan of the 1050 case.

Additionally, I have this 3D printed cover ( Thingiverse)? to protect the screen and controls.? That is severs as a stand is quite the bonus.
