Assembled QMX Unkown USB Device
Hey all, got my assembled QMX this week and have been attempting to get going with digi modes.? The manual indicates it should just work with windows, but I'm getting a "USB device not recognized" upon plugging it in, and the device manager shows Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).? I have tried several different cables including ones that work to transfer files from my Pixel phone.? I've tried different USB ports, and turning both the PC and the radio on and off again.? I can buy a new cable (any recommendations?) if that is the most likely issue, but since it'll take about a week and a half to get it, are there other things I should try first???

It not working on a macbook vs linux is likely that you have a Rev 1 pcb without the 5.1k resistors on the USB Type-C connector. It has nothing to do with mac/linux, but whether you are using a type-c only cable or an adapter cable to type-a, which includes the resistor. If you're using the same type-c only cable for both or have a Rev 2 or later, then this isn't your issue. -- Ahmed Charles

Hmm, well, that is working today... I'm confused because I'm 99.99999% sure I tried turning it off and back on again several times last night with no luck, but the first try today worked.? I also tried turning it on first and then connecting it today and sure enough, same error.? Turning it off and back on again immediately recognized the device correctly today.??
Super confused... but happy to be moving forward.? Thank you! |
