QLG2 Display

Recently got a QLG2 with display. Works great! I even manage to correctly solder a USB mini connector on it instead of the USB-B.

My question is can the display be customized? As it is, the display shows time and satellite information. I was hoping to have it show time and either maidenhead or lat/long info.

Thanks folks!

I do not think so.
If it is not in the manual then no.

I know the original QLG (QLG!?) was easily paired with the QRP-Labs clock (don't have the model number handy) and it came with a 2x16 display but could accomodate a 4x20 and you had all kinds of control over what and how it was displayed.? You could have flashing and scrolling info.? Mine is set to have UTM day, month and Date, under that 24hour mode time with UTM on the left and local on the right.? Took three of the lines and I put the lat lon on the bottom because I didn't need anything else! lol.

Sorry it that is not helpful.

I have been tempted to get the clock case and cut it down (in length) for the QLG2 and to add (the blue) display. I bought several blue displays from Newark (blue is nicer on my eyes than that yellow). The custom-cases that are available for the for radios like the Ultimate 3 are just a bit too long to go with the portability look of the QMX.

I just need to leave (a little) room for a linear voltage regulator so I can power it off of my battery pack that I already made for the QMX (three 18650 batteries in series in a holder tray).?

The display on the qlg2 is unable to be customised.
Hans once said he would get round to including extras on the display info, but I think time and new ventures have pushed this to the back of drawer.
probably on his list somewhere HI

Yep. Locks up fast etc.

The QLG2 Is a GPS receiver, not a clock ;-)

It's prime purpose is to PROVIDE the time / location / 1pps for external equipment to use
and interpret.

TBH if you want to customise the display add the clock kit and a box.

?

This was WIP,? ?the spare space at the back was used for an internal GPS Puck antenna which turns out to work fine indoors?

Siiiince we are showing off cases... Here is my custom printed case.? The translucent color was a bonus to the face that I can see the GPS lights through it...

I have a recesed box in the back where I have run extensions to the clock control buttons and a pot, that I used instead of choosing a resistor value for the LCD brightness... Mine is adjustable.

Nice. ? I had similar thought on checking LEDs.

?I ended up keeping it simple with a slot cut in the box bottom. ?(Filled with UV setting clear glue from above to give a flat ¡®outside¡¯ surface and dome inside and let the GPS board LEDs ?illuminate it

With the heartbeat in the LCD display I only need look at the status panel for curiosity or if somethings odd but at dead of night stood on a white shelf/window bottom the lighting effect looks very cool?
