QDX rev3 High bands
Hello, I have a QDX rev3 kit and I want to know if it can be made for higher bands (like it is described in the Manual 1.16 for rev.4, 20 to 10m bands). If someone or Hans did it, please let me know, especially if there are discrepancies. I know the LPF need T37-10 toroids and there are different tuning capacitors but apart from that, I'm interested if the PCB ver3 could be used as is or there are changes. Thank you. 73 de YO3FFF Cristi |
Hello Cristi I don't think there should be any major problem. There were some minor changes from PCB revision to PCB revision, that's all. You might find you need to add or remove a turn on the band pass filter toroid if the peaks don't quite line up. That could happen if the PCB Revision slightly changed some aspect of parasitic?component elements etc.? You should also be sure to use FT61-202 and the twisted transformer types.? 73 Hans G0UPL On Mon, Mar 25, 2024 at 10:39?AM cris blak via <cyo3fff=[email protected]> wrote:

Hi Hans, Thank you for the quick answer. I still have a QDX rev3 kit and I want to give it a try but on higher bands. Already ordered T37-10. Will see. Thank you and keep up the good work with these very good kits! 73 de YO3FFF Cristi

Hi Hans, Looking closely to the QDX documentation I realize that I don't know what you mean by "be sure to use FT61-202 and the twisted transformer types". I discovered the "PA transformer manual" But there is no information in it in regards to FT61-202. So would you please let me know what is all about with this binocular? I guess you mean to use the same technique for T1 transformer but instead of FT43-202, for upper bands should use FT61-202. Is that right? Thank you. 73 de YO3FFF Cristi |
Hello Cristi Yes correct. A high-bands QDX will work best (higher power output, more efficient) with a type FT61-202 binocular. 43 material will work but just not so we'll.? 73 Hans G0UPL On Tue, Mar 26, 2024, 10:24?AM cris blak via <cyo3fff=[email protected]> wrote:
