QMX hardware tests gives garbage #qmx #troubleshooting

Hello everyone.?

finally got my QMX together and no smoke so far. But I am very puzzled of the hardware tests. They do not seem to work at all. Just random graphs every time?! I have gone through the board several times to find any faults. Have made firmware reset and downloaded a new copy and no results.?

I have seen correct results a couple of times but changing band then same garbage result.?

Any ideas??

And then I discovered that the AGC only works on my Cw mode, which makes the sound insanely loud in the headphones when you switch mode.?

I failed to mention that although the Hardwaretests gives out garbage the Tune SWR works perfectly, the radio seems to work, but ?tests seems to give random data. Diagnostics seems to work and no errors.?

This is what I have trouble with. First 80m band looks okay when checking the next band it is random ?And then going back to the 80m it¡¯s also random!?! This is also the case for SWR sweep ?but when I¡¯m trying the Tune SWR menu it works perfectly fine.

Appreciate some guidance for this ?

Hi,
I had similar behavior when changing to FW 017. I had to go back to 15 then made a factory reset then made a power cycle. I then reboot the FW rev 17, made a factory reset and made a power cycle again to get workig everything. Hm... But it works well afterwards. I suppose it is due to the different data format which was changed between FW revisions.

About the AGC:
AGC is needed only in CW. In digi modes we need all the dynamic range without changing to work properly.

Thanks Bojan, I¡¯ll try this out. It is puzzling ?.?

Hi,

I've had similar situations. Sometimes reasonable results, sometimes garbage.
Playing a little bit around with diagnostics and / or off - on the QMX I've got reasonable results again, without changing FW.
I guess, its a problem in the FW, not affecting normal operation, only diagnostics.

On my QMX, I observed that the "garbage graphs" happened if I tried to step through the bands too rapidly, i.e., if I was on 20m and stepped up to 10m slowly, one graph at a time, all was well, but if I tried to go straight to 10m by stepping rapidly, interrupting a graph before it was done, I'd get junk.? As I recall, the solution was to power cycle the QMX and be more patient :-).

I have tried all of ON/OFF, factory reset and etc. But in fact the workaround which Bojan proposed did work. So finally I could see how the filters are matched. Only 20 m that is a bit off.?

Thank to all of you who answered my call for help.?
