Hi Mike
It would be possible. But with one use of the kit in beacon
mode, one may prefer the kit to automatically start its
transmissions when the power is applied. This way, if there is
a power failure and resumption, it does not require any
operator intervention to restart the beacon.?
On my list of enhancements, I have added what I think is an
elegant solution. I will make it so that the QCX continuously
watches the keying lines and looks for the 1pps and 9600 baud
serial. If it sees them, and is not in beacon mode, then it
will just stop keying. This is the safest way because it will
always protect the PA against inadvertent keying by the GPS.?

1)
Calibrate oscillators and set clock
2) Start
beacon mode
This would
prevent the GPS module from keying the rig
unintentionally, as well as allow a beacon operator the
opportunity to "calibrate" their QCX before the first
beacon transmission.
