Tips highly appreciated - I may need them.?
Perhaps also this thing uses more current than I think?? I can't find documented the current of the 3S nor the GPS.? Also i realize it varies with PA bias ... and the backlight setting.? I had wired mine to allow backlight adjustment - but never changed it.? Now that I reduce the backlight, the 3S is working flawless again.? As I see no regulation inside the 3S -- likely (to my surprise) I was up against the stops of this so called 1 amp supply - either with current under regulation or its manners when feeding a lot of current.?
I plan to build a better 5 volt supply -- with sufficient capacitance.? I had this homebrew (from another ham, now SK) open briefly - I did not count the uF's -- but there may not be quite enough.? It has a couple TO-whatever regulators bolted to the case (one for 5 volts and one for 12 volts) that likely aren't up to modern standards.?
I have enjoyed some cool radiation with 100 to 300 mW with this nifty transmitter.? Thanks again.?
