Question & Sub needed
I have subbed for John K8LJG a few times but since he checked in last night I wonder if he is up and running to doing his normal NCS times? Also, did he get a copy of the NCS schedule yet? Sub Needed: I will be out of state most of this week and will not be available to NCS on Wednesday Late Net. I will be doing POTA a few days. Many Thanks! Also, I want to thank everyone for their patience and kindness as I endeavor to serve and learn! Tom KE8PAG

QMN NCS Sub may be needed on early net on May 18
On Sunday, May 18, I will be working my way back home from Dayton with a stop in Indianapolis to see our great grandkids (and thier parents, I guess¡.) I may not be back in time for my QMN NCS slot on the early net. If I am absent, I would appreciate someone jumping in and taking the net for me. Thanks/73 Larry, WB8R

2025 Dayton Hamvention et al
Good morning, For fellow QMN'ers that are planning to attend the upcoming Dayton Hamvention in Xenia, I would be pleased for you to stop by the ARRL pavilion in Building 2 (Tesla) and say hello. I will be working in the Great Lakes Division booth on Friday and Saturday and familiar faces and callsigns are a welcome sight. On Sunday morning, I will be leaving Dayton and heading for Indianapolis to visit our granddaughter and her family (and the best part, our great grandchildren). Depending on how things play out in Indy, I may not be home in time for my scheduled QMN NCS duty at 1830. If I am not home in time, I would appreciate someone filling in for me. Thanks in advance and I hope to see some of you at the Hamvention! 73/Larry, WB8R

K8LJG off the air 3
I am sad to report that John K8LJG is off the air for the time being. John's antennas have suffered a bit of a collapse and his antenna farm is in need of repair / maintenance. Restoration will require either a climber and/or a bucket truck. As we all know, John serves a number of roles on QMN. John's regular presence will be missed and his slots will need to be filled by substitutes as much as possible. Please do what you can, and let's all hope that John can get back on the air ASAP. 73, Tom W8MK

Good afternoon, NWS has Branch County (and other counties) under a tornado watch until 2000 local time this evening. I may not be able to fulfill my NCS Duties this evening on Early Net. If someone could fill for me (if needed), I would appreciate it. 73, Larry, WB8R

QST August 1969 issue 2
This report is presumably from the previous June because QMN had 90 sessions with a daily Slow Net, Fast Net, and Late Net.

From QST Summer 1968
It's remarkable how much message traffic was handled back then. QMN had only an Early Net and more QTC than QNI.

QMN 90th Anniversary Certificate 5
Greetings, Jim WV0SS has come up with a great looking certificate to be awarded for 90th anniversary of the Michigan Net. Thank you very much, Jim. The attached sample certificate is based on the rather obscure fact that 90 is the "granite anniversary". I asked Jim to create a certificate around this theme, recognizing our 90 years of public service, recognition for the original founders, and to provide places for signatures by our Section Manager, Section Traffic Manager, and Net Manager. Certificates will be issued later this year and awarded to those participants who achieve (on the honor system); 90 QNI (combined early/late), 90 QNN (NCS), and/or 90 QTC on the net. Some of you, perhaps many of you, will achieve all three levels of participation. If I were to study the net reports, I bet some of you have already qualified. I am also considering notifying the ARRL of a separate award for any one-time QNI into QMN during 2025, but recipients of that certificate would be charged a nominal fee for printing and handing. Thank you, Jim, for your artistic contribution to this project, and thank you all for keeping the tradition and service of the Michigan Net alive, for 90 years and beyond! What do you all think????
