QMN to be 90 Years Young in 2025

Good morning fellows,

It just occurred to me that QMN will have been in operation for 90 years (with the exception of the war years in the 1940’s) in 2025. What a milestone……

I am looking forward to some sort of a celebration, either on the air or in person or both and would like to see something to honor and celebrate the net’s trailbreaking dedication to duty.

I have already secured the location for the 2025 picnic in Coldwater and perhaps that might play into our plans for celebration. ?We might also contact Jim Wades, WB8SIW to get his thoughts on such an idea for celebrating 90 years.

Food for thought: How about a special net call up for 2025 that calls attention to our loyalty and dedication to the American Public? Perhaps using QMN 90 in the net call up?

I am not necessarily volunteering to head up such program as my mission here is to throw some flammable fodder on the embers of our net.

Looking forward to some discussion……

I am posting this on our Groups.io account as well.

73,

Larry, WB8R

Tuesday NCS

Hiya,

I have a video call scheduled that may bump up against my NCS slot. If I am late, someone please pick it up as I have no idea when the call may end.

Sorry for the sparse participation, year end fun.

Re: Query about “thru”

Thanks John, W8QZ!
I did find on the NTS Methods and Practices Guidelines on KV5R.com on page 79 an explanation for it. I hadn't seen this before. My apologies to John KB8PGW/DTN for not sending you to Mark, K8ED/8RN when I was NCS that night. And Thanks for putting up with this newbie.?
I'm learning little by little.?
?
It seems the "thru" has to do with a Liaison from one Net passing messages to a Liaison from another Net while on a Section/Local Net; e.g. DTN passing a message to 8RN while both are checked in on the QMN.
?
No doubt everyone else already knew this but it is new to me and happy to learn something new!
?
Thanks Everyone!!

It just means that it is traffic going OUT from the section. No point in stating e.g. “Sioux Falls SD”

Re: Missing!

John,?
I can Sub for the QMN this Thursday. I'll plan on next Thursday too, but my schedule has sudden issues from time to time. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.?

Trying to get better at this through baptism by fire. If everyone is willing I am.?

However, I cannot do 8RN yet.?
