Alexander Carlisle Buchanan, emigration agent

I have been reading through this PDF article about Quebec immigration:

"A. C. Buchanan and the Megantic Experiment: Promoting British Colonization in Lower Canada"

Mr. Buchanan was supposed to have help thousands of migrants colonize Megantic County in the the Eastern Townships area around the early 1800s. I would be interested to know if and where I can find a list of people he helped. Would anyone know if such a list might exist or where I would start looking?

I have an ancestor, Bartholomew Brown, who supposedly arrived in the Township of either Leeds or Ireland, around 1824, but then started a farm around 1845. I'm having thick brick walls trying to trace him any further back.

I have tried asking on FamilySearch's Quebec community group, but I haven't been able to solicit any responses.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Curtis

My ancestry Macmillan's and Kerrs came to Inverness Megantic County from the isle of Arran in 1829. There is a book called The Annals of Megantic County with the names of family who came there in the 1800s.
Hope that might help.
Kind regards
Heather

Hi Heather, I apologize for replying late.

Thank you for suggesting Annals. I have read through that book, at least the edition available on Google Books:

Mr. Buchanan is mentioned (page 14) as helping, or rather persuading, many immigrant families, but my ancestors of Brown don't appear to be mentioned anywhere in it.

I have almost of all the church records of Bartholomew's children:

so he did live and survive in the area, and census records haven't been fruitful. I was trying lesser explored sources of information to try to trace back further.

Thank you,
Curtis
