I am so sorry, I thought I sent this weeks ago. Thank you so much Shon, for the information. I do not know who Samuels father or mother was but suspect that his grandfather may have been a William Lewis, a loyalist, who moved to Canada from New York or New Jersey. A Lewis family lived near the border of thos e 2 states in the early 1800's. I will look further into the land records. I was unaware that there were land grants.

I'm glad to see this site up and running, again.

I noticed you listed Shorten and Lowry. My grandfather was Waymer Laberee. His mother was Ada Shorten. Her parents were Robert Shorten and Jane Lowry from the St Sylvester area of Quebec. They parents were Richard Shorten & Jane Evans, Thomas Lowry & Ruth Mackay, Hamilton MacCullum & Mary Cascadden.
