Re: LEWIS, PACKARD & LILLIE
Hello Debbie -?
?
You said, "My brick wall is Samuel Cook Lewis b. 1822 Stanstead, QC, Canada".
Many families moved up the Hudson River from the US following the Revolutionary War in search of land and opportunity.? Have you looked at the Oaths of Allegiance for Samuel's father?? If a man was accepted as a Loyalist, he may have received land - have you searched land records?? My ancestor was not a Loyalist - he signed the Oath yet never received a land grant, but I found him living on land that had been granted to his son-in-law.? Notarial Records are great sources for many records requiring anything legal.? Also, many times people crossed the US-CA border if it was easier or less expensive to accomplish something. Without knowing the extent of your research, I mean these merely as possible sources.
?
Happy hunting!

STALKER, STOLIKER, CRAWFORD, BOOMHOWER, SCHOOLCRAFT, HAMBLIN, SPEAR
We used to do a roll call - and place the family names we are researching in the subject line so they can be viewed without opening each email.? Want to try this again?

LEWIS, PACKARD & LILLIE
Hello all-?? My brick wall is Samuel Cook Lewis b. 1822 ,Stanstead, QC, Canada; 1877, Malcom, Powesheik, Iowa, USA.? He married Sarah Ann Packard, dtr of Moses Packard and Rhoda Lillie in Stanstead in 1849.? I am trying to find the ancestors of Samuel Cook Lewis. There is much info available of the Lillie and Packard families for which I am grateful. For Samuel,?I've found real estate sale prior to the family moving to Iowa but that does not indicate his parentage.? Thank you for any help or hints Debbie Cotter |

Re: Not sure who still receives these
Bill, I am related to all of them but looking for descendants of William Henry Young because I have a family Bible. Many family entries. They all coincide with church records so nothing new, but I feel that a direct descendant should have it, or at least the pages of record.

Phoebe Spencer?? I'd have to look it up in my tree. My ancestors are Solomon Brock who married Sarah Miller. Solomon goes back to the immigrant ancestor Walter Brock, of Scotland. If my memory is correct, Sarah had two sisters that married Tracy brothers. I am related to the Brocks on my mother's side and the Tracy's on my father's side.
