Greetings All, on my first post I did the USB power/cable mod, along with adding 512KB ram and clock chip and xtal. Works like a champ, remembers time / date etc but one item bothers me. Resistor R49 next to and located parallel with on switch on resistor R49 side pointing to the rear of unit... When I turn on unit using IPserial program or Winlink Express connected, and KPC-3 is turned on (( I have to touch that resistor for unit to sync/turn on)) with green power light then coming on. Anyone have a clue if it is a grounding issue or something else. I was thinking of bringing a wire out from that resistor to touch, to activate it, after turning it on with computer or USB power or stand alone mailbox with no computer. Thanks in advance for any idea's. When green light comes on after touching it, it works great. 73 Rich / NJ6F

Gents I got a IC-F510 with a OPC-617 accessory cable. i can attach the OPC-617 to a Pacomm Tiny2 TNC type in on PC in Putty C MB7XXX tries to transmit but audio is almost non existant and is poor. tries to recieve but again audio of poor quality . on TX the PTT lamp flashes on TNC rig TX's on RX the DCD lamp flashes on the TNC. So TNC and radio are communicating just not enough to get a connection. Plug in my IC207H to same TNC and anenna, type connect to MB7XXX and connects so everything works. try two TNC one with F510 one with 207H lamps flash can hear but no connection made. both ways. there are three solder pads in F510 D, E, and F marked in manual as SIGOUT (E) to SIG OPC-617 (D) to SIG OPC-617 (F) to MOD should i join / break any? E is joined other 2 not connected. tried F joined but still not working. any ideas? David M1CGP

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has been successful in wiring the DB9-VHF port on the Kantronics - KAM-XL to the Data port of the FTM-300D. I have the 10 pin mini-din cable (CT-167) with open ends. Found a couple of different wiring diagrams on the web but so far I have been unsuccessful in getting the two devices to talk. Looking for a working wiring diagram if such a critter exists. I replaced my IC-910 with a IC-9700. I used the same cable to my 9612, but it does not work. I double checked the cable with the IC-910 just to be sure, and it works. So it is good. So is there some setting on the 9700 that I need to set for packet? Bob nz2z -- Bob NZ2Z

I'm catching up on Packet and planning to set up a K-NET node using 3 or 4 Kantronics modems with a diode ring connections. I see how WINLINK and APRS packets connect to the internet through their associated software packages but cannot figure how my K-Net node will interface with the internet. Is there some terminal program or software adapter that will allow this? I know just enough about computers to be dangerous. Any suggestions are appreciated. Tony

Good evening, First issue, when I try to digipeat through our local node i can connect to it but then I cannot connect to another node to digipeat through it I get a screen that looks like this cmd:c nm5sj-11 cmd:*** CONNECTED to NM5SJ-11 cmd:c kd5sar-11 Link state is: CONNECTED to NM5SJ-11 cmd: Second issue, I can connect directly to a station in a neghboring town and we can message back and forth just fine, when he tries to connect to me he gets a redirect to the local PBBS and we cannot message one another. I just bought a Kantronics Kam XL, to attempt to interface with my Xiegu G90. I found a video from a fellow calibrating his Kam XL TNC, but he was using a very expensive spectrum analyzer. Will a sub $100 VNA perform the same task? Dave - AI6K

I’m running linBPQ on a Raspberry Pi via USB to a MFJ-1270X (a version of TNC-X) that has Rev 3 board with USB port. All is working as expected, … except that … it is deaf … if I turn up the RX volume to near max (on the radio), it occasionally decodes incoming. But too much audio gain and the radio produces distorted audio output. I have replaced the RX input op-amp, no help. And have tried other radios, some work a little better (have better audio amp. ie Kenwood TM-281A). Any suggestions?
