International is a global partnership of non-government organisations
working to conserve the world¡¯s birds and their environment.

In September 2002, BirdLife International in association with the University
of the South Pacific will be starting a 3 year???????
?`Important Bird Areas and
Capacity Raising Project'
.
The
project will identify sites of global significance? for bird conservation in Fiji
and will provide training in bird and biodiversity survey, monitoring and
management.
PROJECT
COORDINATOR
The Project is seeking an
experienced and dynamic project coordinator who will be responsible for the
day to day running of the project.
Job Tasks: To
co-ordinate with project partners, notably BirdLife,
USP and government. To manage a second staff member.
To research published data on distribution of Fijian birds and biodiversity. To
undertake fieldwork, training and surveying birds across Fiji.
To complete written reports, media releases and
presentations.
The ideal candidate will be a Fiji
citizen, have a degree in biology or geography, experience of implementing
and managing projects, and an interest in birds and conservation.? Skills required include: excellent
written and spoken English, fluent Fijian, a flair
for organisation, ability to work well under
pressure, adaptability, a tactful, politically astute personality, IT experience
and an enthusiasm for fieldwork. Supervision, back-up and training will be
provided by BirdLife International and USP.
A remunerative package of up to? $32,000 per
annum will be offered to a suitably experienced candidate.
