SOUTH PACIFIC FORUM SECRETARIAT

VACANCY

The Forum Secretariat was established in 1972 by the South Pacific Forum to
encourage economic and political cooperation between its member countries*,
and between these states and other countries.

GENDER ISSUES ADVISER

The Secretariat is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to
work as Gender Issues Adviser in its Development and Economic Policy Division.

The Gender Issues Adviser will be accountable to the Director, Development
and Economic Policy Division for:

· Proactively collaborating with Regional Inter-governmental Organisations,
donors, multilateral institutions and Forum Island Countries to strengthen
capacity to integrate gender considerations more fully into regional
development programmes;
· Working to fully institutionalise and implement the Forum Secretariat
Gender Policy to ensure gender is integrated into the work of all the
Secretariat's operations;
· Providing ongoing training and support in gender analysis to Forum
Secretariat staff and member countries;
· Facilitating sectoral policy coordination to promote development of gender
sensitive policy strategies.

Applicants must be citizens of Forum member countries*, should have an
advanced university degree in the social sciences or an appropriate
alternative discipline and at least seven years experience working on
international gender and associated development issues. Pacific experience
is strongly preferred. Extensive travel in the region will be required.

The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package
including medical and life insurance provisions. For non-Fiji citizens
remuneration should be tax-free in Forum member countries*. Appointments
are normally for three years, with the option to renew for a further three
years.
