The Fiji School of Medicine [FSM] comprises an enthusiastic group of professionals who are jointly responsible for coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Medical Laboratory Technology, Environmental Health and Nutrition & Dietetics. Currently there are over 700 students enrolled in the FSM from approximately 20 different countries. As such, the FSM is the major health-related training institution serving the Pacific Island countries and territories.

SCHOOL OF ORAL HEALTH

Applications are invited from suitably qualified academics for these full-time positions available in the School of Oral Health, Fiji School of Medicine, Suva, Fiji Islands.

1.? Position: Associate Professor

?

Duties

The position is responsible for providing expertise in Restorative Dentistry; in particular the teaching and supervision of senior students in General Dental Practice clinical sessions and the teaching of Prosthodontics including Crown and Bridge.

?

Qualification

We are looking for a person with proven commitment to teaching and research, a competent Clinician especially experienced in prosthodontics and with ability to work as a team member.? The undergraduate curriculum is tailored to be relevant to the South Pacific. The applicant must therefore be flexible to adapt to the changes and the working environment in Fiji.

?

The appointee must have appropriate postgraduate qualifications with a strong background in general dental practice.

2.? Position: Senior Lecturer – Oral Pathology/Oral Medicine

?

Duties

The position is responsible for teaching Oral Pathology/Oral Medicine and supervision of senior students in General Dental Practice. The successful candidate is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organizational unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within the profession and the specialist discipline.

Qualification

A basic degree in dentistry and relevant postgraduate qualification is necessary.? We are looking for a person with proven commitment to teaching and research, a competent Clinician especially experienced in the field of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine.? In addition, there is a requirement for academic excellence, which may be evidenced by an outstanding contribution to teaching and/or research and/or the profession.

3.? Position: Lecturer 1 – Oral Surgery

?

Duties

The position is responsible for teaching Oral Surgery and supervision of senior students in General Dental Practice.? The successful candidate is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organizational unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within the profession and the specialist discipline.

4.? Position: Lecturer 2 – Oral Health

Duties

The position is responsible for teaching in Oral Surgery.? The successful candidate will be required to teach in other areas of Oral Health and supervise students in General Dental Practice.? The successful candidate is also expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organizational unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within the profession and the specialist discipline.

Qualification

A basic degree in dentistry is essential.? We are looking for a person with proven commitment to teaching, research and a competent General Practice Clinician.
