The Forum Secretariat was established in 1972 by the Pacific Islands Forum to encourage economic and political cooperation between its member countries*, and between these states and other countries.

PRIVATE SECTOR OFFICER

?

The Secretariat is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to work as Private Sector Officer in the Trade and Investment Division.? The Private Sector Officer will be responsible to the Director, Trade and Investment Division, through the Private Sector Adviser, and will be accountable for:

?

·????? providing policy advice to FIC governments on private sector policies, guidelines and? environment for small and medium enterprise growth in the marine sector;

·????? providing advice to the Secretariat and other regional agencies to assist them address private sector interests in their program activities; and

·????? advising and assisting business operators and associations on strengthening management practices and increasing competitiveness and potential for export

Applicants must be citizens of Forum Island member countries* and should have an advanced university degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline and at least eight years relevant work experience preferably in the Pacific.? Extensive travel in the region will be required.? The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration package.? For non-Fiji citizens remuneration should be tax free in Forum member countries*.? There are generous benefits and allowances together with medical and life insurance provisions. Appointments are normally for three years, with the option to renew for a further three years.
