? ? The Forum Secretariat was established in 1972 by the Pacific Islands Forum to encourage economic and political cooperation between its member countries*, and between these states and other countries. ? PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT OFFICER ? ??????????? The Secretariat is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to work as Programme Development Officer in the Development and Economic Policy Division.? This position will be responsible to the Director, Development and Economic Policy Division through the Development Cooperation Adviser.? ? The Programme Development Officer will be accountable for: ¡¤??????? implementation of projects under the Japan-Forum Partnership Programme (JFPP); ¡¤??????? providing the Secretariat function to the JFPP Management Committee; ¡¤??????? assisting the Forum Secretariat in the preparation of the proposals for activities; ¡¤??????? managing technical assistance programmes and special purpose funds; ¡¤??????? assisting the Forum Secretariat in the compilation and analysis of donor policies and development assistance programmes; and ¡¤??????? other duties appropriate to skills and qualifications. ? ??????????? Applicants must be citizens of Forum Island member countries* and should have an advanced university degree in development economics, development studies and/or related areas, and at least 5 years relevant work experience in development cooperation and project/programme management in Pacific Island countries.? Applicants with the relevant Bachelors degrees and substantial relevant experience maybe considered.? Familiarity with donor governments and agency procedures and Japanese language skills would be an advantage. Extensive travel in the region will be required. ? ?????????????? The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance provisions.? The salary will be decided in the range of SDR20,309 to SDR28,442 according to skills and experience (the current exchange rate being SDR1:F$2.94). For non-Fiji citizens remuneration should be tax-free in Forum member countries*.? Appointments are normally for three years. ?
