Director

Te Puna Vai Marama, the Cook Islands Centre for Research

The Opportunity

Te Puna Vai Marama (TPVM), the Cook Islands Centre for Research, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director to lead its mission. Established as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in September 2022, TPVM focuses on advancing research to support evidence-based policymaking and initiatives for the Cook Islands Government and the wider Pacific.

As Director, you will oversee all aspects of the Centre's research operations and ensure its smooth and efficient management. A key responsibility will be to grow and sustain the Centre's funding base, ensuring financial stability for the future. You will also lead efforts to secure funding for research across the Pacific region.

Other responsibilities include supervising staff and mentoring research students, organising workshops, seminars, and conferences that engage the Cook Islands community, and publishing impactful reports and academic papers.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications and attributes:

• Education: A PhD? in Social Sciences, Environmental or Biological Sciences
• Commitment to public engagement and community involvement on policy and social issues.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• A solid publication record
• Fluency in Cook Islands Māori is highly desirable.

This is a three-year fixed-term position, renewable by mutual agreement.

Salary Range: NZD $80,000 –$95,000 per annum
