Jim,
No problem deciding what to do. Stay here and finish the car, then store it
at my place for 3 years. I'll keep the spider webs out of the exhaust and the
rust off the brake disks. Heh, heh.

Hey guys,

Though I'd take a minute to uppdate you all on how the project is going.
For those that don't know about it, I've got an '80 MY that I bought
slightly wrecked
and as I closed in on getting it near done I found an '83 Euro 5spd also
wrecked
and decided to make the '80 into an'83 Euro, big project to say the least.
Anyway the body sits as a skeleton in the garage and now it's just a
matter
of bolting everything into it. I've taken a week of vacation starting Monday
and expect to have the interior installed, and full drive train and
suspension
back on the car by weeks end. All that will be left then is painting the car
and during tune-up, timing belt, and fluids.
I hope to have it fully running and driving by the end of May and painted
by
mid July.....except....
My wife Tina who is in the US Coast Guard has applied for a transfer to
Honolulu,Hawaii. While this is terriffic and cool, the job comes open June12
and throws a big wrench in the 928 plans.
We still don't know if she's gotten the transfer, but if it does come she
thinks
they will want her there 1st week of June.
So now I am fighting with what to do about the shark,I figure I've got 2
options

The second is to pack the car up and put it in storage for 3years till we
get
back to the mainland. I'm leaning toward storage because I'd hate to be away
from my wife and daughter even for a couple months and I've been hearing
horror stories about what the salt air does to car bodies there,I guess it's
worse than even S Florida which I know is bad.
I welcome anyones thoughts on what to do with the shark, and I'll certainly
keep you all informed as to what happens with the transfer.

Thanks for the bandwidth

Can't help with the storage, but I would definitely throw a coat of primer
on it and BRING IT TO THE DRAGS! (or not)

Hi Jim,

I saw a really bad example of a 928 that had lived over in the Honolulu
area. It looked like death warmed over...Actually, the car and it's owner
had similar problems. The car's paint showed signs of severe UV exposure
and some rust spots. The car's owner, a 30 something blond woman, showed
signs of over exposure to UV and she looked like she had double the mileage
of the car...

Rgds,
Bob

-Adam
Well now given enough time to get it road-worthy,registered,and enough
"shake-down time" I will certainly bring it - yellow, blue, and grey.
If I'm still here the drag day is the current goal painted or not!

Jim has a hybrid? Could you give me some info., Jim? I don't have your
email handy, filed it and emptied the trash. I am interested in doing one
of those to run in hillclimbs, openroad races, etc. (have to use up all
those spare parts from my crashed car and a racecar hybrid would be fun,
probably, and a good use for all the extra running gear, etc.
Let me know, if you have the time, Don Hanson
