Shark drag update
Adam Birnbaum
Hello fellow sharksters, here's the final info on the shark drags set for
Sunday, June 25, 2000. Entry fee $25 payable at the gate. Gate opens at 7am. When I first called SIR about 2 months ago, I was told tech started at 7am. When I called 30 days ago, a different person said tech started at 8am. Today I called and a third person said gates open at 7am, tech starts at 8am. It's your call on when to arrive, I think I would shoot for around 7:30am just to be safe. None of the persons I spoke seemed to confident in their time estimates. I'll try to be there at 7am. If possible, I will park on the shoulder just before the entrance to SIR. If the cops don't chase us away, maybe we can congregate there until everyone shows up, or at least until about 15 minutes before tech closes. If I can't wait on the shoulder, I will try to set up an area in the infield for us to set up camp. If I don't have my shark, I may not be allowed into the infield so I won't be racing. In that case I will keep my eyes open for the first shark to come in and maybe I can hijack a ride into the pit area. Sorry, I haven't received the bill on the shirts yet, so I don't have a final figure for the other expenses, but I'll eat whatever goes over $25 a head. (That's $25 over the entry fee for the uninitiated) Directions from I-5: 1) Take exit 142-A onto HWY 18 East toward Auburn. 2) At around the 7 mile mark you will drive over a green metal bridge and Hwy 18 will start to head up a long hill. 3) As you approach the top of the hill, you will see signs for SE 304TH ST / SE 312TH ST. This is your exit. The exit is right at the 9 mile mark. 4) Take a left at the "T" junction at the end of the offramp, which is SE 304th ST. 5) Take your first right which is the entrance to SIR. (There is a big sign) You should see me on the shoulder just before this last turn in either my Black '88 S4, or a silver blue integra. NOTE: Upon leaving SIR you will make a left back onto 304th. DO NOT take the first right (the way you came in). This is the onramp to Hwy 18 EASTBOUND. Just stay straight after you make the left out of SIR. You will cross over Hwy 18 and see the onramp to WESTBOUND Hwy 18. If you are coming from I-90, 1) take the same SE 304TH ST / SE 312TH ST exit. Sorry I didn't do a mileage count from I-90. 2) Take a left off the offramp. 3) You will cross over the Hwy 18 overpass. 4) Take the first right which is the entrance to SIR. You will see their big sign. If you want to get back to I-90 after the event, DO take the first right after you make the left out of SIR, which will put you onto Hwy 18 Eastbound. I am really getting psyched to see everyone there on Sunday. I just got the news that 928 Int'l just shipped my tube today. Looks like the tube will arrive thursday at the earliest. I will definitely be pulling some long nights to do the re-install. Just a word of warning that I may be in sleep deprivation mode on Sunday. If anyone has any last minute questions, feel free to post to the list or contact me directly. On the day of the event, if it appears that 1) I am expecting you, but you will not be able to make it, 2) I am not expecting you , and you are able to make it, or 3) if you will be delayed on the day of the event, please call my cel number (253)229-8610 and let me know. As far as what to bring, I'm bringing my DE stuff, which is a toolbox, folding chair, umbrella, air pump, white shoe polish, junk food, and some pop. If anyone has access to an EZ UP or one of those Pop Up portable shelters, it would be great to have as either shelter from the sun or rain, weather depending. See everyone Sunday, Let's go STUTTGART AIR FORCE! -Adam Birnbaum '88 S4 A/T |

to the track. BE CAREFUL! They are looking for the people who just can't wait to get to the track. Wish I could be there to watch, but the PIR CART race is a not to miss! Mike C. '73 Chalon 914-6 2.7 '92 Laser AWD Turbo '85 928S GPW Auto (Okay, it's my mother's!) ----- Original Message -----
