Hi Louis and all. Forgive a private question for Louis on this forum, but I
saw his recent post so if you are still at the keyboard, Louis, a quick question
about the PSD on a 90 GT, as I am just about out the door for a hillclimb over at
Bogus Basin this weekend.
Last weekend on my way throught Bend, I got a major warning, "Differential
Contr. Off" while running in those big ruts that are in the highway there. It
was just a blip then went off. As I came up my gravel drive, I got the normal
"PSD" green indication, which I usually do whenever I come home. I got out the
manual and it says if I get that "Differential Cont. Off" I should take my car
and have it checked. I went back out in the yard and goosed it a few times,
causing wheel spin, and getting a Green "PSD" indication every time. So my
question is, doesn't that PSD indication mean that the limited slip is working?
Going through the manuals, there is a lot of stuff about fault indications and
special diagnostic tools, which of course mean nothing to me. Did my PSD and ABS
shut down, or was it all just confused by my huge tires, my pinned axels, my
steroids, and those huge ruts?
I would hate to get all the way over to Boise and find my limited slip and my
ABS were shut down or something, especially if I was running at speed.
Any feedback? Have you been into the PSD/ABS controls? Are they as iffy as
the rest of the electrics as far as shutting something down conservatively to
force you to the dealer to have it diagnosed, or do they just work like the light
says they are? If you have a minute?.. Thanks, Don Hanson
