Shark Drag T-shirt graphic

ADAM BIRNBAUM

Hello all,

In a unilateral executive decision, I'm going to be presenting a second
graphic for the back of the shark drag shirt. I wasn't quite happy with my
first rendering. The new graphic will have the xmas tree background, but a
front view of the 928, maybe with the front wheels partially in the air.

T-shirts are about $5 for the shirt, and I was told $5 for the printing
would be a pretty fair estimate, so about $10 total. Don't forward any
money yet, I'll probably just collect on the day of the event.

We still need to finalize a team name. I'm still a "Stuttgart Airforce"
supporter.
Tom had suggested Stuttgart Luftwaffe and Stuttgart Blitzkrieg. Louie has
suggested Stuttgart Autorenningruppe (sp?) (sorry, the email with Louie's
suggestions are on my other computer). Any other comments or suggestions?
Please post!

I will also post a team roster a little later today complete with nicknames.
If you want your nickname changed, please let me know at that time.

Lastly, I am ready to start the Shark Drag Poker grid. The winning prize
is yet to be determined, but I would like everyone to submit (and Chris to
re-submit) what you believe your best ET/Top Speed/reaction time will be.
From what I understand, it is physically impossible to have a reaction time
better than .5 seconds, so if you think you can nail the start, your guess
should be .5 sec's. Lloyd, maybe you can clarify this a little.

-Adam
I think I can clear this up:
Your reaction time is the time between when the Green lights;
and when you break the beam which starts the ET clock.
If you do this under .5 sec, you've redlighted and lost :-(
In order to cut a perfect reaction time it is actually necessary
to leave on the last yellow,it all has to do with the time in truly
takes to see, recognize, react to the green and then to do
something about it.
I think the .5 is just a standard established by the NHRA.

This will explain alot of what you will see at the track, there
are 5 or 6 pages of basic drag racing info there.

Hey, Adam & all.

Sadly, it looks like I'm going to have to bail out of the Shark Drag, with
closing on a condo, moving, and having Mom out to visit for a week all
threatening to happen right around that same time. It looks like both the
drags and the autocross are off my list for the weekend.

I'm tempted to get one of these shirts, myself:

Eat my dust, Tom.

Curt

ADAM BIRNBAUM

Hey Curt,

Not so fast young man! Actually alot can happen between now and then, so
don't write it off yet. The cool thing about this event is that I don't
have to reserve spots, so you can literally show up the day of the event if
the time slot opens.

The only thing I do need to know is if you still would like to purchase a
T-shirt.

By the way, what part of town are you going to be living in?

-Adam

Hi Curt,

Sorry to hear you can't make it. I was planning on bringing my
family
station wagon down to blow you away, but I guess it will stay home
;-0. (ha ha)

Anyway, are you staying in town or moving to (yikes) the eastside??

Later,

tom

P.S. The wagon does really have a chance of giving you a run for the
money, (Volvo 850 R conservatively rated at 240 hp at 0 - 60 in
6.5sec and 1/4 mile
14.5..... all without any mods ;-) )

Hey Bobby,

I think we might have crossed wires somewhere, sorry if I caused some
confusion. The good news is that the drags aren't until Sunday June 25th,
the better news is if your available, you can participate! What do you
think?

if you print up the t-shirt, i'll buy it if i'm there or not! Bobarino
would be perfect. i'm not sure if i'll actually race though, depends on
weather or not i get my t-belt retensioned in time and the squeaky brakes

would be great, i'll be there with cash in hand for you or if you want, i can
send you a check. take care and thanks for the greeting.

Yo Bobby!

No big deal, actually its awesome that you are now part of the team.

Let me give you the quick rundown. I'm printing up team shirts, and
everyone is getting a nickname on the back. Is "Bobarino" good with you?
or would you like some other name. SIR is charging $25 to race, the cost
of the shirts looks like it'll be about $10. There will be trophies and a
Drag Day Poker prize. I'll eat the expense for these if it doesn't run too
much, otherwise I might spread the cost which shouldn't run more than $5 a
head. So, I think we're looking at a max of $40 for the event, which keeps
in line with my target budget of $50/head in planning these gatherings.

The Dyno Day Poker is played as follows: Everyone submits to me what they
think their best Elapsed time, top speed, and reaction time will be. The
person who is the closest wins the prize. At this point I'm thinking of
some headlight Stoneguards. If anyone already has these, pipe up. If too
many do I'll find another prize.

Glad to have you aboard Bobby,

I look forward to meeting you in person on the 25th. June that is :).

-Adam

Adam,

I already have Stoneguards in place, but I do still need the Devek stroker

Sure, what the heck, I'll just take a second mortgage on the house to cover

Now..., will that be with Mahle or Kolbenschmitt pistons? I'll throw in the

Sounds good Bobby, I'll put you down for a shirt.

If your shark is up for a t-belt re-tension, I'd definitely get it handled
soon, whether or not you decide to race. A slipped or broken belt can
really ruin your day. If I can be pushy for a second, Make the appointment
now! :).

If you are looking for squeal free brakes, the only cure I know if is to
order the Axxis (sp?) pads from 928 Specialists along with the factory
vibration dampeners. Just call over there and tell them you want squeal
free brakes, and they'll set you up with all the right stuff. If you do get
the re-tension done prior to the drags, I hope you will possibly reconsider
running with the squeaky brakes. I can understand if you think it will
attract a lot of unwanted attention, but at the same time I would hate to
see you miss out on the fun. I think we (this group of 928 owners) have all
suffered from the squeaky brake syndrome, so it's no big deal to us. We'll
all be there to back you up if some turbo'd Toyota or tubbed shoebox driver
hassles ya. (Right Guys?)

Hey, Tom.

Family station wagon? That's your 928, right? And now I find out you've
got a hot-rod Volvo! And, 0-60 in 6.5s? Did you tear out all the seats?
:-) I used to really like Volvo's monster wagons, btw.

Just you wait, though: once I get my new wheels bolted on you may just be
intimidated right off the road! Or not. I *should* be out at Driver
Skills Day trying out my new rubber at this very moment, but somehow my
wheels & tires were sent to Iowa last week. Maybe I should have called out
once a week (6 or 7 times) to remind them to use my new address.

I ordered some other goodies from DR, too, all of which got delayed due to
Kinesis' leisurely pace. Including one secret part!
