1991 GT White
This has been listed on Pcarmarket for a few days with no real bids. Looks like the car spent from 1999 to 2002 in Kirkland. Anybody recognize this car or their ownership?
Looks like no wrecks, although it certainly has been used. GT people: is that exhaust similar to stock? Are there only 2 mufflers plus the cats on GT‘s? Or do they come stock with a rear muffler? Just wondering about the exhaust. KR Martin 1980 Metallic Black w/ a number of updates….. |
Stock GT has a rear muffler.

If I recall correctly Randy Moore had a white 91GT back around that time.? He tracked a 9 fo fo for a while.? Don't think he ever tracked the 928.? The exhaust system on this one looks correct except the rear muffler has been removed and replaced with what looks like a shop made welded in twin pipe setup.? The stock muffler also has two outlets, but it's a muffler so much quieter.? Those two small things after the cats are the smaller resonators that come stock on 928's after 88ish.? Larger resonators were available on the 87 and 88, as well as the GTS (if I remember right).?
Edit:?? Looking closer it appears to be a 928Intl polished RMB (rear muffler bypass) that bolts in place of the stock muffler |
Thanks for the muffler picture. I thought they were supposed to have a rear muffler. ?I didn’t actually listen to the video that was on the PCARMarket site. I’m assuming the car is gonna be pretty loud with only those small mufflers & the cats. ?
Are you thinking of Randy Robertson? ?He had a white 928 GT and then he had a 944 turbo. ? |
开云体育Yep, thats who I was thinking of.? Randy Roberston.? Could have been his GT. As far as sound, I think the GT without the rear muffler (and otherwise stock system) is the sweet spot, not too loud, but nice tone.

Wow, that was my car.? I've always wondered what happened to it as it got shipped back east when I sold it.? It was my favorite car - even beating my first car, a 1977 TransAm :-P
?
Keith, I am not sure what you mean by "Looks like no wrecks, although it certainly has been used."? Do you mean like "used up" or "abused"?? To my non-mechanical eye, it still looks pretty good for a 34yo car with 85K miles.? It was still certainly very nice when I sold it.? I believe it was pretty straight stock when I sold it so somebody must have tweaked the exhaust a little.? It was heavily tinted when I bought it (it came from CA) and it looks like that has been removed.
?
I did track it a little while I had it - a few PCA events, a few ProFormance sessions, and a couple of 928 Spokane events, all of which were a blast.? It was fun having 911 instructors - it blew them all away with how well it handled (with a stock suspension).

Randy - My “used” comment only meant that the car has been “driven” like Professor Porsche always said Porsche’s should be. ? It’s really in nice shape - the seats are all stitched nicely still & the outside is really nice. ?There’s a couple of places on the undercarriage where you can see that the engine & trans cover have hit bottom once or twice. ?no biggie that’s happened to all 928’s if you’re driving them ?like they like to be. ??
I have 82k miles on my 1980 - mine has more rock chips, probably due to more track time than this GT has. ? we’ll see what happens in the next three days, but it doesn’t look like this will reach whatever reserve might be set. If that happens, we’ll have to wait and see what the PCarMarket “deal tank” price is. ? |
