Re: Saturday August 26th 928 Meet, Mend & Eat BBQ in Battle Ground WA
Michael B- No problem! Happy to help with the organization stuff. I'm a motorhead and love the wrenching sessions, so I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and tinkering around. By the way, I came across some of your Youtube videos the other day....Good stuff buddy!! Tool requests for BBQ
Pacnw928 guys- Does anyone have a hand pump with the right size hose to fit an OEM timing belt tensioner? I'd like to oil the tensioner while I have everything apart. Also, I'm curious if anyone owns a quality micrometer. I've tried in the past to use the cheap harbor freight micrometers, but they are terrible. I'm curious what the width of my rotors is. There may not be time for that on Saturday. But if everything goes smoothly with the timing belt adjustments, and there is time to kill, I'd love to get a look at my rotors.
Thanks and Regards, Mick |
Re: Saturday August 26th 928 Meet, Mend & Eat BBQ in Battle Ground WA
I've emailed you privately for directions Keith, but thought I'd let the rest of the group know, I ordered the red wine with the voucher I received from pelican parts. Hopefully, that arrives at my doorstep in the middle of the week. I'll be bringing a few bottles to the BBQ. I'm also happy to order some pizza for those who've not brought anything to cook. (I'll be ordering some for myself, as dealing with the timing belt tensioning and concerning myself with cooking steak seems like a bit too much to deal with). Looking forward to meeting you all! Re: throttle plate assembly rebuild demo
Michael B- I'm always interested in learning when it comes to 928's and engine work in general. So, you'd have at least one interested spectator if you end up offering a throttle plate assembly rebuild demo. Re: PorKen around anymore?
PorKen- Hey there! Glad to see you're still around! Crazy your shop is so close to me. What a small world. That's cool you were thinking of dropping a note on my windshield! It's that kind of stuff that makes the 928 community so great. I was telling the rest of the group a few weeks ago, when I inherited this car from my Dad a year or so ago, I thought "What am I gonna do with this thing?" Now after interacting with some of the guys on the forums and here on pacnw928, and chatting with Roger from 928sRus, I understand the appeal of the community and can definitely see myself owning a 928 long term! Thanks for all the contributions you've made to the 928 community! So many ingenious inventions! Not sure if you can make it to the Battleground BBQ, but if so, it would be great to meet you. I've got a bottle of red wine with your name on it! :-) Kind Regard, Mick Cowles 1985 Guards Red S3 automatic On Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:03:34 AM PDT, k_projekt <k_projekt@...> wrote: "The report of my death was an exaggeration" Mick, its funny you ask because my shop is literally two blocks from where you park your bright red S3. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Keith,
I will bring appetizers, a pair of jack stands and eating utensils (plates).
I don't plan on working on my '88 S4 at your location but will assist and learn up from the group.

Re: Timing belt adjustments for Pete and Joe
Joe- It'd be great if you can make the trip. The meetup will be hosted by Keith M. in Battleground, WA. What year 928 do you have? I know there are subtle differences in what needs to be removed to make room to measure the timing belt tension. It depends alot on the year of 928. Pete- What year is your 928?
