Re: Shark Sighting

Hi Guys,

My name is Tom and Ive been sober for >>>>>>>oops wrong group (ha
ha).

Anyway I live in North Seattle (north of the U duhb)and work in
downtown Seattle (4th and Pike)for URS -- a large
Engineering/Environmental Consulting Firm.

On occasion (about once every two weeks) I get to blast down the I-5
to one of my sites in Longview, WA. Keep an eye out for a very dirty
Black/Black 87S4. Not to be confused with the other Black/Black S4
down south (it's a little noisier than mine at the moment).

Always keeping an eye out for 928s (seen Andy Pope blasting through
downtown on occasion). Also frequently see a white 928S and a
burgandy 928S (in Fremont/Wallingford).

Re: Shark Sighting

Hey Bobby...

I'm Andy, live in tacoma, am 25 and have a brown 1979 928 with 40k on it...
i just got it not too long ago and the first thing i had done was my timing
belt and water pump... i took it to paul weir in seattle because they gave
me the best quote but they ended up being really expensive...

so, i'm trying to find somewhere else that's a little cheaper... it's hard...
that's sort of the commitment when you buy these cars...

i would join you guys at red robin, but i have to leave for Eugene, OR that
day to go watch a bunch of high-school football players run around...

hope to talk to you soon!

I might just stop in sometime, as i'm in lakewood now and then...

your pal

andy

Re: Lunch At Red Robin

Adam,

i'm the tall, thin guy that usually wears sunglasses (6'2" 155lbs,
brown short hair, khakis) i think i saw a pic of you on your web site, but a
description would sure help. so its the one on South Hill? hope to see you
all there.

Mag HiFi In Tacoma

Hey Rob!

I live out in Tacoma... I wish that I would have known you worked at Mag
HiFi... I had a stereo put in my 928 not too long ago and I was very unhappy
with it...

What year and color was yours again?

Devek Day

Hi All,
Preliminary word from Susan and Marc at Deveks. In
conjunction with their get together at the shop, they will
be hosting a group of interested drivers at Thunderhill on
the 4th, which is Friday. We asked for a minimum of 20
cars. All this is still being finalized, but this is an
early warning for us NW folks (I am helping organize, so we
should get something out of it, right?) The cost will be
somewhere around $200 with lunch and drinks, probably.
Instruction will be available. The track has race-gas, air,
corner workers, medical personell, etc.
If you really want to get to know your car, and your
fellow owners of 928's, you should get on the track with
them both. You WILL learn something, and have a bunch of
fun doing it. Thunderhill is a really safe track, no walls
or trees or guardrails, nice and wide...I am sure the
emphasis will be on saftey and fun... The atmosphere is very
relaxed, great track workers, out in the country, but bring
an umbrella(you all have one of those, right?) cause it's
hot and not much shade. For a look at the track try their
website at: .
I just made the drive last weekend. 10 hours is a good
figure from Portland. I took my GT on a trailer easily in
that time. Thunderhill is about 2 1/2 hours from the shop(
+/-).
If there is interest, I can get a block of rooms at
Willows, the little town about 5 miles from the track on
I-5. I have stayed at a good motel with secure parking, a
good resturant, pool, etc. and they are used to racers and
groups.
I plan on leaving Thurs. AM, fairly early, driving to
Willows, having dinner and a good nights sleep, then the
track for the day. Maybe on to Deveks that afternoon, or
wait till the morning.
Get in touch with me, for now, with questions. Deveks
will be posting something to Rennlist when we get it all
finalized, but in the mean time they don't need the extra
work(leave them alone--they have to get my car done for
Virginia City this weekend) Don

Re: Shark Sighting

Adam,

lunch would actually work better for me too. being as i have to drive up
to Sea-Tac later. 1:30 would be perfect. we are speaking of the one in
South Hill behind the mall right? i'll try to bring my cousin along, he is a
former 928 owner, he's had two of them also, but he's a BMW convert now.
anyway, let me know what happens with everyone else, my schedule is pretty
flexible...

Re: Shark Sighting

Adam,

Cool! looking forward to seeing you., i'm sure i can help you out and
give you a good deal. good luck with the torque tube, and as for your other
post, i have no idea how the engine will be affected. i would guess that a
jack vertainly would not hurt though. better safe than sorry. where do you
go for your t-belt adjustments? i've been going to Robert Larson Porsche on
South Tacoma way but they are expe$sive!

Red Robin sounds good but have to pick up my girlfriend at Sea-Tac on
Friday at 9:35pm so i have to leave by 9:25pm (he he just kidding.) how

used to live in Puyallup, on 152nd and canyon, i know the area well. i'll

Re: Shark Sighting

Tom,

Keep an eye out for a Purple GT on your way to Longview, thats one of my
favorite drives along with the highway 7 to Mt. Raineer. sometimes, when its
sunny, i just drive to one or the other, get there (insert bathroom break
here)and turn around and head right back home, just for the drive. what a
kick. maybe i'll see you sometime.

Curt Nichols

I am so behind in everything right now--

I have scheduled August 4-7 as time off, though I don't think I can make it
down to Devek's area in 10 hours (about 830 miles). That's Friday through
Monday for me, though I bet I can cut out a little early on Thursday.

Back when I asked the question I believe I got around seven
affirmative
responses on going to Devek Day. I will be going and am interested
in
hooking up with others of you along the way. Portland might be a

Sound good to me, very central location from my perspective.

Question for the group: Of those that are going, what do your
schedules
look like, with respect to travel dates? I personally have to
watch
the
time off, but I'll be flexible. Don, are you thinking drive to
Devek from
Willows on Saturday morning, or the night before? We would want to
be at
Devek early on Saturday, perhaps by 8:00 to get good parking. It
will fill
up fast.

I was thinking of taking the Friday off and driving down (I checked
last year and remember it being about 10hrs??). If we leave fairly
early, we could be in town around 6:00 pm. Just in time to check in
and hit the pre event gathering they usually have.

I also remember that Inns of America had a block of rooms available
at
special rates???? Does anyone know if this is the same this year?

Hi All,

Just uploaded the scans of the 928 vs 996 article on my web site.

It's slow to load and the text is a little fuzzy, but check it out
and
then go buy the May 2000 issue. Definetely worth the 5 bucks.
Found
my copy at Borders. Had about 5 or so copies left (downtown
location).

The red one I see every day on my way to work. The owner also owns that
billiard and game store on Tacoma Mall Blvd. His name is Luther but goes by
Lute. He is a pretty nice guy and that is his daily driver.
